St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Always good!
St. A’s is great course and probably the one I’ve played the most over the last 2 years, but this is my first review. The course is generally pretty well kept, especially for a public course. Depending on the time of year, there will be tons of leaves in the rough and you can consider you ball as gone if you’re more than a few feet off the fairway. The golf carts are very basic. Not even close to an updated range finder function that some other courses my offer, but definitely not a deal breaker. I normally walk anyway. Great layout and opportunity to use all your clubs.
nice track
we have played St Andrews several times this summer. What makes this course tougher is the greens. Lots of mounds and pin placements are on breaks. So far they have been really slow too.
Cost is fair.. We'll be back!
Showed up early
I showed up early since the weather looked like it was going to rain. I asked the golf shop if I could get out early. I was informed that since it was a HOT DEAL I could not go until the booked time. I waited and watch as one single player teed off in the hour I waited. I teed off with three other golfers and played unimpeded until the eight hole and then we notice a twosome trailing us.
I questioned the rationale behind holding golfers back while tee times go unfilled and then have golfers bunch up.
My foursome finished in under 3 and 1/2 hours but being bunched up was unnecessary.
Hi, we would like to apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
Course is very easy teeing from White tees. Greens are very slow for some reason.
Will never play here again
Will NEVER play here again. I have written a negative review before, however I felt the need to for St Andrews. During these times of covid, with no water jugs on course, St. Andrews does not allow coolers. Completely understand their course, their rules, and im not being forced to play there. But the least you would think they could do is if not coolers allowed and no jugs on course would be to make sure the vendor carts were around more than normal. We saw the cart girl 2 times thw entire time!!!! Once on the 1st hole, then not again until the 16th hole. 90 degree day, no coolers allowed, and only had access to water/ice on 1st, 10th (the turn) and the 16th. It was brutal. Sent email to the Mgr hoping to get some type of acceptable, or at least understanding response before I posted my review. Ill post my email and the response, and you can make.your own judgement. But I find it absolutely dispicable (and negligent) that during the times, and the changes because of them (no water jugs on course) that St Andrews would not adjust their no cooler policy until the time comes there are water jugs on the course and people are adequately able to stay hydrated.

Good course
haven't played there since the last season but each time I play there I always enjoy the course. The layout is pretty straightforward. The Fairways and the greens are in great shape.
Nice course.
Wet due to rain. Despite some wet areas still overall good condition.
Staff was friendly, except for the lady at the check-in.
The St.Andrews course I played is average in maintenance and difficulty. Driving range and practice facility are very good. The cart was sluggish at best and the GPS display was unusable.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Saint Andrews Course. We hope to see you again in the future.
