St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Well maintained, too many "C" players.
the pace was extremely slow and difficult to navigate. However, the course was in good condition except for the greens being extremely slow. I am a bogey golfer, so it's not like I am especially particular about my courses. It just took over 5 hours to complete.
Great time
The four of us had a really good time! The course conditions were great too. The green was surprisingly slow but well maintained. They have some of the fastest golf carts I've ever driven. However, the boy how was in charge of the carts was very moody and not friendly at all.
Confusing and poorly maintained
First and last time ever playing here. The course was easy, and usually that makes for a good fun day of golf, but the confusing layout, poor pace of play, lack of maintenance, and not once in almost 5 hours of golf seeing a cart girl for a drink makes this a very bad time. The course is 36 holes, and the layout is poor and confusing, not labeled well and I found myself more then once searching for the next hole. Supposedly there was a cart girl (1) for 36 holes, but my 4some never spotted her. Overall the course needed repair. There was more then one green that had dirt in spots instead of grass. If you are looking for a cheap course and just want to get 18 in, then try it, but keep your expectations very low.
The course is beautyful and the green are great
This course was a pleasure to play, its open, and really fine, like a fine wine. The club house has great food and very very reasonable.
Better bang-for-the-buck than neighboring courses
My friend and I finished 18 at a very brisk pace. The starter greeted us and suggested that we could skip ahead of the 4-some in front of us, and then come back afterwards to finish any holes we missed. The course itself was in great shape, particularly the greens. Afterwards, we had a tasty lunch at the clubhouse: our server was very pleasant and friendly.
great golf course
great course. had lots of fun. will definately return!!
Awesome course for the money
This course is very well maintained. Enjoyed every bit of my golfing experience here. Staff was super friendly!
Decent Course
Playing the tips definitely brings hazards into play. Seems to be decently maintained. Golfers need to repair their ball marks on the greens!!! Seriously!!! All in all, was a good course.
Extremely wee maintained
I paid $14 for a twilight rate with cart and played all 18 holes. Had a blast and loved the golf course! I will definitely look forward to play here again. I had one of my best rounds of this season here and I think had a lot to do with the well maintained greens and fairways.
keep up with the good work and possible with the low rates and people will play here a lot.
Great Chicagoland course
Good condition and great deal on golfnow. Would definitely play again.
Some tight holes.
Nice course with a few challenging holes. Starters were overly nice and accommodating. Lots of mature trees. This course will test your abitlity to keep your ball in the fairway and to play a more accurate round. Had lots of fun. Go more than once to learn the layout. You should do better each time you get to know this course.
This is a good course and has some challenges to it.
The fairways and greens were in great shape. With two of us at 0600 in the morning we completed the course in 3 hours.
36 holes - Great layout
36 holes - Great layout. Challenging pars 5's and 3's
St. Andrews has an old course feel.
A complete golf facility no doubt. From practice time to tee time this place offers a lot. Wide open holes , to tight ones, both courses give any golfer a challenge. No frills, no gimmick holes ,just simple hit the fairway and you can score golf. Good food at the bar also. Always a fair round here.
Nice course, slow pace
The St. Andrews course was in great shape. Large, bending, challenging greens and well maintained fairways. Only downside was the slow pace. A single (without a cart) went off two groups ahead of us and backed everybody up. I saw the ranger talk to her but it did not seem to speed her pace any.
Great value for the money! Some greens were aerated, but playable.
Statf was friendly. Course was in good condition, but tough on a cool, windy day. No bag drop area when approaching the course, so one has to be familiar with the layout.
GPS feature is a definite plus, as it helps with the club selection. Fairways are in great shape, and will help in driving if one is straight! we played in less than 4 hours without stopping after 9. Greens are large and challenging!
All around pleasant experience!.
This course is great.
St.Andrew's course is great for the ample space of fairways. Some of the rough patches of grass that separates the fairways and cart paths are a bit high but trimmed. Layout of bunkers and water hazards is not bad at all. I will play here anytime as opportunity will allow.
Great day
The greens are in nice shape and challenging. I took a risk but it was worth it. I'd never been here before and will definitely be back !
What rain?
I have always wanted to play St. Andrews and when this hot deal popped up I couldn't resist. The course was in amazing shape for having rained heavily the day before. Fairways and rough was kept low so balls were easily found. The GPS wa great and even told you the best way to play your shot. The staff was great and even called you by your first name. The only issue I had with this course was the amenities. They had no bathrooms on the course and the water fountain was warm. For $36, this course was a steal.
Wonderful friendly staff
Fantastic course condition, very friendly staff, super starter at the course who helped us to start playing 10th hole onward to save time. With each cart navigation system worked like charm.
