St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Wonderful friendly staff
Fantastic course condition, very friendly staff, super starter at the course who helped us to start playing 10th hole onward to save time. With each cart navigation system worked like charm.
excellent Course
This course was in excellent condition! The fairways were clean and easy to play off while the rough was thick but still playable. A perfect course for a satisfying round of golf.
The course was not as difficult as I thought.
For a someone playing this course for the first time I enjoyed it very much. After the rain in the morning, the course was in great shape.
Very large greens
I live very close to course. Played the St Andrews course. Not busy at all. I havent played here for years due to how high the cost is. Got a great deal on Golfnow today. The course had alot of ground under repair bunkers. Greens are huge! Decent shape. Course is not that difficult. Its an ideal golf outing course.
Perfect Rainy Day Course
From the first tee shot to the final putt the course was extremely enjoyable. I was by myself and there was only 25 rounds on the books that day so the pace was at my discretion. With the wind swirling and multiple doglegs and tall oaks it was a golfers dream. Originally from AZ where there is no bentgrass greens, no trees, and EXPENSIVE courses this was the perfect trip playing at St. Andrews. Would suggest one thing for the course, put the prisms on the flagsticks for the lazer yardage shooters because the GPS was WAY OFF!!! Loved it and will come back everytime I visit Chicago.
SLOW pace, otherwise great
6 hours to play 18. Otherwise, this course was pretty great for the price. Well maintained, some challenging aspects to the course.
great course for year round golf
course is in great shape in each season u play wether its winter or summer. the best feature that brings me to this course is its catering to early morning golfers who work during week can get out before all the slow retired old guy foursomes that litter the fairways after 730am. early morning fast play and the GREAT shape the course is in year round brings me back all the time.
Course in Great shape
Greens were in great shape, course was a little wet after rain
Good public course
This course was in good shape from tee to green. It is not a difficult course. Water seldom comes into play. The greens are undulating but were slow. No extras here. It does have a nice bar and restaurant.
Above Average
I usually play St. Andrews a few times a year for some company outings and scrambles. The course is usually in decent shape but it does receive a fair amount of traffic. Chicago had record rainfall this April and in turn the courses have brightened up quickly. I played this past Sunday and the course was in the best shape I have ever seen it in. I was surprised to see the course moving at such a quick pace for a 65 degree and sunny day. The greens were in great shape as well as the course in general. Like most of the public courses in the area my only gripe is tee box maintenance. It wasn't terrible, but I feel like they could fix it up a bit to make it top notch. Overall it was a very enjoyable round and the course looked and played like it was in good shape.
Nice course!
Sometime I find the green are not maintain well. It can be slow.
good price, good course. not high end a a good value.
not crowded and in pretty good shape for so early in the season and so soon after the previous weeks monsoon. would play it again
Weekday Twilight Round
Course was in great shape. got all 18 in with a 3:37 Tee time. Slow group in front of us, but still decent time. Ive played this course often, and this is round the course looked in the best shape I've ever seen it.
I played St Andrews, in West Chicago, a number of times over the years and find the lakewood course more fun to play.
We played a week after some heavy rains and flooding hit our area. I was surprised to see how well St Andrews stood up to the rains. The golf course was in good shape, flat tee boxes, fairways not muddy and greens rolled true as well as fast.
Nice course
A really nice course. Everything was good except the greens had a lot of ballmarks. That's not really the staffs fault though.
Solid Choice
This was my first trip to St. Andrews and I got a great deal on Golfnow. The course was in great condition for all the rain we got the prior week. Staff was friendly and the pace was fast. I'd recommend and play again.
Fantastic club house...
The interior is awesome and the course was good, too early in the year for the grounds to be in mint condition but it was enjoyable play. I would play there again if the price is right.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club, Inc.
Friendly staff, great golf course. Well kept fairways & greens
Great to play golf in Chicago during a late spring thaw.
The course was in good shape after sustaining a large amount of snow a week earlier. I would recommend bringing your own cart cover. They don't always have enough to go around. The deal I got was fantastic. I was just thrilled to be playing.
thanks;
St. Andrews is a very good test of golf with varying lengths of par 3's and par 4's. Nice large undulating greens.
The staff has always been very nice. Nice size club house although I have never eaten there. I have only played the St. Andrews course of the two 18 hole tracks available for play.
