St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Decent course but SLOW
The course itself was fine. There are lots of trees and the greens were pretty difficult. My biggest complaint was that the pace of play was awful. The front 9 wasn't bad, but it took us 3 hours to play the back 9 (there were only two of us). Not sure if I would recommend. I probably won't be going back to play on a weekend.
Slow pace & course doesn’t drain properly
Given the recent wet weather the course should have closed down as it can’t hold water. Bunkers were not playable.
Pace of play was very slow
Won’t play there again
Not worth the money

JUST GO PLAY THERE!
After at least 2" of rain the night before, the course was very playable. Tees, fairways, and especially greens were in great shape. The course, clubhouse and driving range were just perfect. Get a good deal from Golf Now and enjoy these 2 classic courses.
Thank you for the wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the condition of the course and facilities despite the rain.
Good Course
Good course for an average golfer like myself. Friendly staff, and course is in nice condition.
Would like to have seen a snack cart, as it was a hot, humid day. I bring water and chocolate, as I'm diabetic, and never get hassled by the starter.

Crowded, fore and slow
Sunday golf expectations aside, this was a perfect weather day and was crowded. People all over the place. Several times 6-8 golfers in our fairway chasing balls; the course is tight. Ppl yelling FORE all the time and no idea to which direction. Otherwise, condition of course is great - tee to green. And oh yeah, how do you run out of hotdogs???
Thank you for sharing your experience and feedback about the pace of play on our course. We are constantly looking for ways to improve and will address this issue to ensure a better experience for all golfers.
