South/East at Arrowhead Golf Club
About
Arrowhead Golf Club is home to a 27-hole course that is considered one of the best municipal plays in the Chicago area. The holes are divided into the South, East, and West nines, which can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. Water hazards appear on 17 of the 27 holes and there are 77 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Each golf course provides a challenging but different round. Although the club opened in 1927, the South/East Course was renovated in 2011. The course retained its challenging character but it was made more playable for a range of skill levels. In addition to the water and bunkers, there are mature trees throughout the course. Arrowhead G.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice facility that includes a lighted driving range, putting green, chipping green, and bunkers.

First time
Course is in good shape considering the time of year. Greens are tough.
Great fairways and greens
The staff inside the pro shop was extremely friendly. I thought this course was very very nice for it still being the winter in mid-march. A very nice layout indeed!
Distinctly Arrowhead. Great golf course
Sometimes I'll play a course and think, "this reminds me of this course or that" Arrowhead doesn't seem to remind me of any other course in particular. Staff very friendly. Food, excellent. Plenty of challenges on the course including some pitched fairway edges that will send your ball far from your intentions and several relatively small greens with deceptive subtle breaks that will cost you strokes at some point during your round. Have you heard about their sand? Really nice and a pleasure to play in if you must.
I didn't play great golf this day but it was a great day anyway because it's a great course and I always appreciate that regardless of the scorecard.
Course rarely disappoints!
I stopped going here 5 years ago because the rangers were flat out rude, not because I didn't like the course. I think they have that figured out now and the course is always in really good shape. We all know that the mark of a good course is one that gets a lot of play but still keeps their greens in pristine condition, and Arrowhead excels at it. They run fast but true. Clubhouse is excellent and food is the best I have had at any golf course, public or private. I played 15 rounds there this summer if that tells you anything!
Excellent track
Course was in excellent condition. The ranger was a bit of a jack wagon, pushing us and putting us on the clock. This was our first time playing the track-we finished in 4 hours 22 minutes.
Other than the jackwagon ranger, was a very pleasurable experience on a nice track
Love fall golf!
The course was in excellent condition. The greens ran true and fast. Stay out of the rough if you can. Got a deal, but usually over priced. Will only play if I can find a deal on GolfNow.
Great condition, great price
Arrowhead had lightening fast and true greens that had not yet been aerated. Fairways and roughs were plush. Sand traps in best condition of any public course I played this year in Chicago west suburbs. Tee boxes had been aerated, and holes filled with sand, and remained a bit rugged. Overall unbeatable especially at the $17 (with cart) Hot Deals rate.
Rain could not keep this course down
We pulled up to rain and after talking to staff decided to go out anyway.
So glad we did. By the time we loaded up the carts rain stopped day turned nice.
Course is well maintained and well run. They keep it moving and pace is nice.
Course had the best conditions i have played in awhile. everything was in good shape greens rolled perfect. In 9 holes i had one putt that hit a bad divot. rest ran straight and true.
Was just a scenic well maintained well run course look forward to playing it over and over.
Food in the clubhouse and staff are very good. clubhouse is very nice also.
This is my idea of a total golf package.
Fantastic Public Course.... Crotchety Ranger
First time playing Arrowhead and it is a beautiful course. Make sure to play the East course as it has the best views and challenging holes. Only draw back was an overzealous ranger who kept stopping us to tell us how much our cart weighed and to keep up the pace with his game delaying conversations.
Very nice condition
Fastest greens I've played all year whole course in great condition
Slowwwww
Very slow pace. Took nearly 3 hours for our twosome to play 9 holes. Would be nice if players were reminded to play "ready" golf and not spend 10+ minutes searching for lost balls. Otherwise, the course is beautiful. Usually a better experience than this one.
Awesome west county course
Excellent course, challenging but rewarding. I will play it again as soon as possible.
Bad rangers
Wow where to start.. Rangers were ridiculous.. I golf twice a week at many of Chicago's nicest courses.. We were never tasted like this at ANY off the other courses I played.. First it was cart path only and the course want harshly wat at all..ok no biggie.. Then the rangers chased us down to tell us to pick it up when we were right behind the foursome in front of us.. There was no one for two holes behind us. We completed our round in four hours with cart path only. Then they proceeded to threaten us with asking us to leave for slow pay!. FORGET THIS PLACE!
Great layout
Course was in great shape, staff extremely kind and helpful we had problems with pace of play and they actually found the foursome that was slowing everything down and moved them to a different 9 cusps to them
A public treasure
For a public course, it was extremely well-maintained. Course was busy but traps and greens were in great shape. I really enjoyed coming here.
Worth it.
Terrific and challenging. One of the few courses in this price range that are worth the cost. Unfortunately rain shut us down early, but got a rain check that I will definitely be using.
Country Club Quality
Arrowhead is essentially a public country club. Great shape and facilities. Staff is high quality across the board. Only critique is the quality of beer on the course. For goodness sake get some Two Brothers, Revolution and Half Acre in there!
Good day of golf
Course was in excellent shape. Been a few years since I played here and was very impressed with the scenery as well as the course. Staff was extremely friendly.
Arrohead
The course was really nice. Tougher then I expected.
Beautifully Designed; Most Challenging
Can't to play this course again! Definitely worth the price and the slope rating is right on.
