About
Chevy Chase Country Club (formerly known as Traditions at Chevy Chase Country Club) in Wheeling is one of Chicagoland's top public golf facilities. Thomas Bendelow designed the golf course in 1925. The classic layout remained largely the same until 2002 when a major renovation updated the course and made it more challenging. The layout now has deep pot bunkers lined with tall native fescue that border the generous, rolling greens and undulating fairways. Though it is more challenging than it was, the golf course still offers a player-friendly round. Four sets of tees also ensure that golfers can play to their skill level. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 5 that features water both left and right of the landing area off the tee. Three massive bunkers and yet another pond all fiercely guard the green as well.

Good value
Good not great course. Some challenges, some repetitive holes. Overall positive -- good value for money.
Very Good, but some room for improvement
Pace of play was not too good, 4 hours and 20 minutes. However, greens nice over all but some damaged greens, fairways were nice though seemed like course needed some water. Great staff, and nice layout. Would be nice to have a driving range or at least a short game area with trap instead of only a putting green., and the value is good only if you get a Deal Time with a booking engine like Golf Now.

Good value for the $$$$
Nice layout. Fairways and tee boxes almost country club quality. Rough was tough but manageable my suggestion would be stay out of it! Some greens had issues but they placed pins away from issues. They are somewhat slow but “muni” pace and quality. Emily was on the beverage cart and did a great job with service and attitude! We caught this round on a “hot buy” so for 50.00 “all in” it was a fair price for this above average municipal track. I’ll definitely be back!

Good pace
Great pace but the greens were in awful shape for the price of the round

What is happening to the greens?
I have played here many times and the course is almost always in great shape, unless mother nature dumps excessive rain, that I understand. The problem is the greens. They look like a Chicago street in the spring. There are areas of dirt patches and grass mougles that make the putting unfair. I hope they get this problem under control quickly. It's a very fun course and I will play again in a month or so to see of its better.

Great Course
I really enjoyed this track. The clubhouse attendant and starter were awesome, Very friendly and helpful as this was my first time golfing here. The one big miss is not having a practice facility. Other than that, I really enjoyed the track. They could use a ranger, there was a group in front of us that was somehow playing a scramble with 4 people. We passed them + the group behind us also passed them. Other than that pace of play was good for a Saturday afternoon. Around 4.5 hours. Will definitely be back.

Great Golf Value
IMO - this course is one of the great golf values in Chicagoland. No, it’s not perfect. There’s a rough patch here and there on some of the greens and a few of the bunkers need more sand, but it’s in pretty good shape overall. The play is fair and fun. The prices for a coke and a hotdog are reasonable. The staff is friendly and highly competent. The fellow who runs the bar is especially good. We’ll be back!

Greens need work
Fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. Everything is very green for the season but the greens need work. Patchy, bumpy and dead spots around the cup and other spots. Other than that, Chevy is always worth the money
Worth giving Chevy Chase a try!
Electric Golf carts have GPS in them and are fairly new. The course overall was in good condition including tee boxes, fairways, and greens. The Beverage Cart gal came by multiple times. The Rangers politely kept reminding player groups to keep pace, but we ended up about 40 minutes behind pace because groups in front of us were stacked up. We teed off at 10 am. Overall, for $60 greens fees and a golf cart this is a good value and I recommend you give Chevy Chase a try.
