About
Chevy Chase Country Club (formerly known as Traditions at Chevy Chase Country Club) in Wheeling is one of Chicagoland's top public golf facilities. Thomas Bendelow designed the golf course in 1925. The classic layout remained largely the same until 2002 when a major renovation updated the course and made it more challenging. The layout now has deep pot bunkers lined with tall native fescue that border the generous, rolling greens and undulating fairways. Though it is more challenging than it was, the golf course still offers a player-friendly round. Four sets of tees also ensure that golfers can play to their skill level. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 5 that features water both left and right of the landing area off the tee. Three massive bunkers and yet another pond all fiercely guard the green as well.

Beautiful Course w/ Tall Rough
This course is nice if you always hit your fairways. The greens are well maintained. The only drawback to the course is the length of the rough. The length is very unforgiving and can cause long time to find balls. Also, the automated pace of play warning can become annoyed especially with a party in front and you cannot increase pace anymore.

Enjoyed this course
Pace of play slow (4 hrs 50 mins) and no range. But excellent value and nice course in good condition. Excellent GPS and carts

Not bad!
Went there with a couple high handicap golfers to just play and have fun. It was a good time and a good course for the money.
Good course greens need work
Real good course. More than a few greens look like there’s two different types of grass and is splotchy causing your putt to bounce around. Fairways and tee boxes were in great condition. Facilities are great.

Not great
No need to bring a repair tool - the greens were all rock hard even after the extremely wet weather we've had.
lots of parallel fairways. I play courses for 35.00 that are in better condition... I won't go back.

Lost balls 2 feet off the fairway
This course would be a good time for a causal golfer if it was possible to find a ball in the rough. The rough was so tall that if you missed the fairway by even an inch and ended up in the rough finding your ball was almost impossible unless you were standing on top of it. The greens were in awful shape. Tee boxes are not bad and there are nice amenities. I played on a weekday and there were maybe 5-10 golfers on the course and there was no issue with pace of play. I would 10000000% recommend you avoid playing this course on a weekend since searching through the rough for your ball would add add at least 3-5 minutes per hole and it will get backed up and lead to a 5 hour round

Weather has the greens destroyed, playable but not worth the current price. Rough too high for average golfer but weather probably has prevented mowing.
