Shepherd's Crook Golf Course

Beautiful course with rolling hills, mature trees, natural prairies. Challenging greens and manicured fairways. You will not mind having a high score here because it is so majestic. No driving range. Club house under renovation with friendly staff.

Unfortunately, we only play this course when we have GroupGolfer certificates. The regular price is just outside our normal price range.. with as many value courses around, meaning $30 for 18 including cart, my playing partners are too cheap.

Many ogher courses around are very narrow, so playing a “Links” style course is refreshing. I don’t enjoy a course where I loss six balls a round.. The course is still challenging enough and, for me, a pleasure to play.

Lots of variety, you use all your clubs. Greens require your full attention. Play well you score well always enjoy playing there.

Wonderful course with a very friendly staff. Course conditions were terrific. Shepherd's is a 50 minute drive for our group and none of us mind. We played here 5 or 6 times over the summer and into the fall. I'm liking this course more and more after every round. The greater Chicago area has outstanding public golf. Shepherd's Crook certainly deserves to be in your rotation.

Course was fast and firm, yet challenging and fun to play-with the breezy conditions it was really a links type round-staff friendly-great experience

Never hat tires of playing here. Tough course to play in the wind.

SC was in excellent shape. The greens are quick and roll true. The staff were quite accommodating. The food was great and the libations Icy cold.

Enjoyed the course immensely. We played 36 and got them all in.

Love the layout, love it more when it is dry and firm.

Greens are challenging, especially with the US Open Sunday pin positions we saw today.

Pace of play can be. difficult out here but rangers were efforting to move things along.

Well worth the drive to play here, just wish they had a driving range or at least some nets to hit some warmup shots!

Challenging golf course with rolling fairways and greens. My only complaint is that on each tee hole, the ground crew did not put the markers back on the ground after the worked the tee ground so it was difficult to find where to tee off.

Course in great condition and challenging with rolling hills and greens. The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 is because the tee markers were not in place. So it was hard to fine the tee marker on each hole.Looked like the cut the tee area but did not put the markets back.

Great course but our round got cancelled due to rain/weather conditions but I still got charged

This was one of my favorite courses near chicago. All around great course. Great condition as well!

I don't often write reviews but, feel the need to share my experience. We played at Shepard's Crook five minutes late from our tee time because a friend was pulled over. Started the back nines, without incidence and was moving along the round just fine. Until midway towards # 18 when a staff member rode up to us and said he was kicking us off the course for slow play. At first, we thought he was just kidding because there was only one friendly ask for us to pick up pace of play because a two-som was behind us. We finished # 18 and......NO, they were not kidding. When asked why we were being kicked off the course? The staff member yelled and screamed at us with only a "YOU ARE OFF THE COURSE." We spoke to the manager and he said we were warned (4) four times. This was completely untrue. Hate to say it, but we felt a little discriminated against because we were the only Non-White golfer on the course at the time. Just wondering how many defenseless Non-White golfers with less then perfect English have been TARGETED by the Manage and his Staff???

Course was in excellent condition. Only disappointment was the pace of play. Much slower than the last time I played.
