The ladies who work the facility are the BEST!!!
Me and my buddies played 18 holes today & I've never seen this course in better condition. Fairways are nice, greens are fast & true & they've cut the rough down slightly so it's not as penal as years past but you still gotta watch out. We basically decided to eat dinner after our round closeto 6 o'clock & the ladies work the bar, the grill & the facility were fantastic and very accommodating. We'll definitely be back just because of them and how accommodating they all were!!! Thanks ladies...Chris & your crew ROCK!!!
Looking forward to returning
I had heard about this course for years and finally got to play it. Really enjoyed the layout, setting, and conditions. Unfortunately got rained out after 13 holes but have rain checks. Note that there’s no GPS on the carts, but there are good markers on the fairways and cart paths.

Excellent track on the IL/WI border.
I have been playing here since it opened in 1999. The course is in the best shape since the opening. The general manager that came on board in 2017, Allen Parkes has made numerous improvements to both the course and the facilities. This is a great working man's course with private club quality you will never tire of playing. The course can be challenging, especially if played from the tips or when the wind is blowing. Pin positions can be selected that enhance the challenge. There are four sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels. A great place to play and well worth the money.

Nice layout
Not a bad venue to visit. If not for Golf Now hot deal, probably would choose other courses. Overpriced a bit in comparison to some others in the area. Nice layout in good condition.

Nice Links Style Course at a Great Value
Shepherd’s Crook did not disappoint. While quite busy for a Wednesday (i.e. had to wait 3-5 minutes at every tee box), very other element of the experience was top-notch. Course was in great condition and the dynamic greens presented a real putting challenge. We will be back in the near future!

Play
I have been playing since the course first opened. The course keeps getting better each year and this year is no different I love the lazy out and the challenge you can make birdie to double bougy if you are not careful fun and friendly people who work there and play there would recommend you try it at least once you will be hooked

A Gem!
The ‘Crook’ is special. Played three times this year and every time the course has been in great shape. Without a doubt, the best golf value I’ve experienced in the Chgo metro area. Great condition, great and fun track, staff is always friendly. It’s an hour away for most in our group but we’ll worth the trip. We’ll be back!

Ever Improving
I've been playing Shepherds for years. The course continues to improve in conditioning and on-course/off-course amenities. Allen, Charlie and his staff do a great job in providing a great value with a challenging course. Charlie Lukan continues to improve the quality of the course, greens and bunkers in spite of the crazy weather this year.
Kara has been a bonus to the food and beverage service since she arrived. The course eases you into play to start and quickly gets your intention on the par 3 fourth. The greens are always tough and fast, and there are no guarantee pars. This is a mix of short, medium and long holes that provide you with a variety of shot-making tasks. Always a pleasure to play.

Slippery and Fast
The greens are slippery and fast, lot of very tough flag stick positions. Fairways are very good and bunkers are well maintained. The cost is spectacular, the people are always friendly and helpful. We play this course 3-5 times a year and it is always a challenge.

Great course with extremely tough greens
The course was in great shape. Short course but difficult. Pin placement was difficult with fast greens. If you miss a putt the ball may go down a slope. If you want a challenge this course is for you.
