Sunday afternoon
Elbert is a great local course, it I s challenging but fair. Sunday afternoons are usually pretty slow as there are a pretty steady run of foursomes.
The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. Elbel is a great course for the money.
Great course
Due to the lack of rain the course is very dry and parched, so bad it took 5 minutes to get a tee into the ground, give this course a drink of water south bend parks
Great course
Course is always in great shape and fun to play. Love going there.
Fun course/Greens need work
Bought a hot deal for $21/player on Sunday at noon. A great value to play a fun course like Elbel. Here are a few thoughts from the round:
-pro shop/check-in has moved into a much smaller space next to the bar/restaurant. (used to be an actual pro shop)
-mostly twosomes on golf course behind us provided a steady pressure on our foursome to play fast.
-Greens were very slow and covered with tree debris as well as small rocks that make putts hop and get kicked off track.
In defense of Elbel it is still "early" in the season and we played on a cold, windy day. However after reading previous negative reviews about the greens it seems they have been unacceptable all year. I'm going to give them another month to make the improvements and come back again. It's too fun of a layout and the hot deal is too good of a price not to.
Glad It's still a golf course
Glad it's still a golf course
Good place to bro out....Bad place to putt
It is a bit aggravating to be putting for birdie, make a good on-line stroke, only to have your ball hit the last aeration dimple before the hole and go straight left. This course's recent history of struggling to maintain the course has decreased its rating. It is a great course to conduct a work golf league where you leave work early, load up on brews, and just bro it up. A bad course to go to if you want to shoot a low score, unless you are Jordan Spieth, because their is minimal water to avoid.
Golf Course in Distress
The greens are aerated and putts bounce up and down and whatever direction. The sand is more like concrete as well. In all honesty for what you pay and the quality of the course minus the greens, its an awesome little course, but the greens make it nearly impossible to finish a round of golf feeling good.
Elbel Park is a gem !!!
Had a great day on Elbel Park golf course. Thanks to GolfNow for the great price. Thanks to T.J. the pro for your hospitality.
Elbel
My 89 year old father-law and I play this course at least three times each year. This was the first time this year. While the tees for the men were in good shape, the white forward tees from which he played were so hard, it was very difficult for my father-in-law was unable to put a tee into the ground.
Also there was no drinking water in any of the coolers around the course. The day we played, the temperature was 88 with high humidity. Water certainly would have been nice!!
Otherwise, our experience was enjoyable and we will play it again.
Great time
It was a great time. Course was in good shape. Would play it again.
Good value for the money
This was a really fun course to play would've gotten a higher overall rating except some of the greens had winter kill on them. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back
Very Poor Course Conditions
Absolutely no maintenance was being performed the whole time I was out. Other courses, there is staff out on the grounds. Tee boxs had sticks, twigs, and goose droppings all over them. Fairways were about the same. And Greens were dieing. Could see sand and dirt because of grass rott.
Will not play here again.
Beautiful course and affordable too
Friendly staff, beautiful course, great experience!
Typical muni course
Half your strokes in golf r on the greens. This course has the worst greens you can imagine! Frost probably killed 70% of live grass, aeration holes were not filled w sand on most holes and greens were hard as rocks as well. Id much perfer to play any course that really invests in their greens as the top priority! I can deal w crummy looking tees and fairways and sandtraps but golf is no fun if the ball doesnt roll true on the greens! Play somewhere else until they hire a trained greenskeeper w a college degree in golf turf management!!!
Nice course, worth the drive
Oct 6 2014
Course was in great shape although the greens we're aerated. Most holes are slight doglegs to left and a few right. Would recommend riding as the course is hilly. Will go back and play this course in the summer.
This course is a great golf experience
The course was in excellent shape. The greens were fast and true and tee boxes in great shape. The course reflects the attention to every detail that the grounds crew puts in. The scenery on the course is magnificent and doesn't resemble most City-owned courses. Would recommend this course to golfers of any level
. So come out and enjoy this great course on the Northwest corner of South Bend.
Great Shape
The course was in great shape and the staff was outstanding!..always a pleasure playing Elbel.
Really? The fairways were like rough and the greens r horrible
