Challenging Par 3! Photo submitted by John6499512 on 05/25/2013
Nice course but very fast greens
We enjoyed our round very much thanks to Dee and Mike, members of the club, who helped guide us around the course. Greens were very fast and didn't hold many of my shots. We will definitely play this course when we are in the area again.
Welcome Back
Just returned to the game after a 6 month pause due to foot surgery. Staying in Sunriver for the holiday weekend and played the front nine with my wife. Last plated Widgi Creek 3 years ago and glad we decided to get in a few holes this trip. When we arrive the staff was very friendly and of course what in great shape. Pace of play was a little slow but that’s to be expected on a busy holiday weekend. We got in nine holes in just over two hours which by my standards is really good. Again the course is in great shape it’s beautiful and I really nice treat to play.
Fun course , great condition
Afternoon starting times were subject to a lengthy delay due to a men’s club but the staff handled it well. Course is in great shape and it’s a fun track in the woods though with a few quirky holes and greens. Level grass range and good practice bunkers and chipping green. Nice clubhouse facilities yet it hasn’t had a full service restaurant for many years for some reason, don’t know what that’s about. All in all my favorite public course for reasonable green fees in the Bend area.
Just OK
I had been excited to play this course for years. The competition for excellent golf in Bend is fierce and this course was a disappointment. The fairways are in mediocre shape with lots of divots, weeds and some bare spots. The greens were in good shape though. The course, while attractive with natural ponds and ponderosa pine landscape, does not boast stunning mountain or river views that many competing courses in the area offer. A number of the holes are adjacent to the highway and the road noise detracts from the ambience. There were several very long par five holes that were appreciated by the big hitters.
The golf carts were dirty as if not touched between parties. Our first one had cigar ashes in the cup holders, the floor had dirt all over it and the exterior was dusty. Inexcusable for what you pay to rent a cart.
The lodge is elegant and the pro shop was well stocked with friendly, competent staff.
I hope the drawbacks in course conditions and cart cleanliness we experienced are just an emerging from covid, staff shortage issue that can be fixed. Nonetheless, We will not be back. This was the consensus view of our entire foursome. A shame.
Good course
Greens are great shape, lots of contour. Very walkable. Both long and short holes for challenge
,
Fantastic
I’d recommend this course to any average to advanced players. Lots of tee box options and beautiful fairways. It can get a bit colder in the higher altitude, bring layers.
Odd course, friendly staff, maybe better in the summer
As an off-season course, it might not be the best. I have a feeling it’s a lot more playable in the summer. More than anything though, it’s an odd layout with many holes that have odd layups, like the final par 4 hitch played 9i, PW from the back tees, mats on the driving range were bare and hard. The staff was very friendly and the “small” bucket of balls is a crazy good value for $5 (because it is small like Montana is small). Nice place to have a post round beer. Not my favorite course, but not a bad one either,
