Best Deal in Town
We played the day before Memorial Day and, because of our history with public courses, we were counting on a 6-hour round. However, the pro shop did a great job of managing pace of play - pairing groups up and moving play along! If you haven't played Long Run in awhile, you should give it a try. Always love the diversity of the hole layouts, and you can't beat the service offered by the staff. Best deal in town!
Good course
Greens were good, course overall in good shape. Two weeks without rain starting to take a toll in places, though. Front nine enjoyable, and in very good shape. Back nine more difficult, not in great shape.
Nice course, but slow pace of play
Course is in pretty good condition. Greens roll very slowly in the morning but speed up in the afternoon. Front 9 holes are wide open, back 9 tighten up tremendously.
Don't play this course if you're in a hurry... Expect to be there at least 4 hours if you're playing the full 18.
Long Run
Club house, carts dirty, tee boxes in bad places on back nine !
Good Value
Friendly staff. Course is in decent shape. Will play again.
Please don't play there!
The course is in really good shape - it's clean and green, the staff is very well prepared and friendly. And.. I get the tee time I want every time! Good stuff at Long Run - leave it all to me!
good weather, fair green condition
fairway and green are good for play golf! and
two people joinning us were very kind.
Great value, will be nice in Spring
The course and staff were great. The winter has really delayed the fairway's growth. I can imagine a much nicer course in May/June. The greens were in very good condition considering.
I would highly recommend playing Long Run for a good casual outing.
Wish I played better.
Course is in great shape and we had a great time. Back 9 is different 9 than front. There is a driving range there.
Nice Course
Considering the time of year, the course was actually in very nice shape. The greens were especially nice and rolled smooth and fairly fast. This course has some very challenging Par 4s with 400+ yards even from the white tees. Will definitely play again!
Great public course
First round of the year and the course was in better shape than I expected; greens were in great shape. Moved around super fast; played 18 in under 3 hours...lost several balls on the back 9 - tighter than front. Got a chance to talk to the head pro "Mo" for about half an hour...great guy! Will definitely be back.
Getting Better
This course plays pretty long from the whites. The overall facilities are getting better. The front nine is pretty straight forward but pay attention to your approaches on the long par 4's and par 5's. Especially on the back - some of them can be tricky and play well to either the long hitter or smart course manager.
Could be much better
50 degree day in january, decided to play at this place and nothing has changed. Poor staff, over booked tee times, we had the same tee time as 3 other groups, figure that one out.
Over priced snacks and food, some shady things going on there could be impacting the course and facilities. Ive seen money go from my hand into a staffers pocket WOW. Course over all not bad for January, greens pretty decent, fairways damp and muddy in spots. Ive played here during the hot summer months and there would be no water on the course and the carts are very slow to match the very slow pace of play i guess. Play as a last resort.
Good public course
The front side is mature and fairly open. The back side is more narrow and usually muddy. Plays long for the average golfer.
Long Run
Fairways were great! Due to the winter weather the greens were rough on a few holes. Had a great time playing Long Run and will play this course many more times in the future.
long rounds golf course
It's not a typo, the course should change its name to long rounds. Our 12:30 tee time was delayed till 1:00 due to what I assume was the course trying to make every penny possible and letting people without a tee time go out before us. It was a nice day out and I can somewhat understand it being crowded, but this was just ridiculous. We had to wait on EVERY tee box (oh and the tee boxes were missing, it was just tee up wherever you please) and the pace of play was a joke. Our group decided as a whole to quit after hole 14 because it was already 5:15 and it would've been around 7:00 if we stayed the whole round. That's nearly a 6 hour round! Also, there was no water at any of the water stations on the course which is probably by design for these penny pinchers to make sure you buy a drink at the pro shop. I don't mind buying a drink, but if I finish my drink and want to fill up the bottle with some cold water I should be able to. Instead this poorly ran course can't even go through the trouble to fill up 4 water coolers each day. Normally I wouldn't eat at a golf course but after a 3 hour front 9 I was starving and ordered a hot dog at the turn and of course they were out of hot dogs (how about some planning ahead of time guys? It was the first 'warm' day all year. Be prepared!) So instead I get a cheeseburger (microwaved) that was cold in the middle. It's really a shame because I really enjoy the layout of this course. It's not in great condition, but it at least looks like they cut the grass from time to time. Some people need to be fired for letting this horrible course management occur. Last year we played a round in 90+ degrees and a friend asked for a cup of ice and was charged $.25 which is fine, then the worker said that the water stations cost $1000 to build..... $1000 for a little bit of wood and nails. Not sure where all that money went but ok Mr pro shop guy. This course is ok if you want a cheap round on a Tuesday afternoon when no one is out there, but playing on a weekend you should expect at least a 5 1/2 hour round and that is unacceptable. Oh and there's a sign in the pro shop that says water is on the course. I've played here at least 50 times and there's been water on the course about 25% of the time. I don't even expect water to be there, at this point it's a surprise. Hoping for new management soon!
Great condition for January.
Enjoyed playing, nice course, friendly staff, enjoyable round with my son.
Worst Staff Ever
I totally agree with the post "Long Rounds" when it comes to this course and staff. I am an avid golfer and have played most of the metro parks courses around the Louisville area. From my experiences with all these courses Long Runs management and staff are definitely the worse. I feel like all they care about is making money. I have been there multiple times where I have had the same tee time as another group. The rounds on weekends usually take around 5 and a half to six hours to play. There is rarely water in the coolers and I remember one day last summer when it was well over 90 degrees and there was no water on the course. That seems like it should be against the law. The staff has a feel about them like they don't care at all about the place. There was one instance my friend ordered a cheeseburger and the guy dropped it on the floor and was going to serve it to my friend until I said that I saw him. This is all really unfortunate because the course is actually pretty fun to play but the poor management has turned it into usually a terrible experience. In my opinion this place has great potential just new staff that cares.
Greens good for winter time
Pegged it on one of the strange warm December days we get here in the Ohio valley. Muddy & soppy out but greens were surprisingly good & fairly quick. In & out in less than 3 hours. Long Run is one of the better layouts in the parks circuit.
Autuum leaves
Autuum leaves are beautiful when swaying in a sun soaked tree. But they conspire to hide every ball that comes their way after they have settled on the ground...To laugh at you every round.
I believe that was me knocking them out of the trees in the group ahead of you...
