The couse is under construction around the greens. Not worth the money until completion. $20 max for the condition it's in.
Terrible conditions
This course.....sad to say the least.....every course I’ve been on this year has been gorgeous, except this one....plenty of rain and no heat this year and it’s still burnt up somehow....few fairways were trashed, couple greens destroyed so bad that u had to move your ball to avoid putting through tire tracks....not a single bunker is playable and the rough needs cut down....staff is very friendly as always, but the Willows needs to be forgotten about for the year....I will not be returning
Has Potential, Bunkers Worst Ever Seen
This course has a lot of potential, I played the front 9 of Willows and then the back 9 of Pioneer today for the first time. The staff and starters/ranges were very nice in my interactions with them. The fairways were in pretty good shape and the course layout was both challenging and fun.
I took three stars off because many of the greens on the Willows had bumpy, dead areas. Tee boxes on both the Willows and Pioneer were mediocre at best (some had uneven lies). The major disappointment were the bunkers: the absolute worst I ever saw on any golf course! I attached a picture, which shows the green side bunker on Pioneer #16. Literally every bunker on Willows and Pioneer had grass growing out of them, were hard as clay, and none of them were maintained at all. In addition, none of the bunkers on the Willows front 9 had rakes lying near them? I guess the staff gave up on them and they wanted players to as well...
For the staff who maintain the golf courses at Kenton County: why even have "bunkers" on the course if you do not maintain them? Fill them in and just have grass in their place. It's embarrassing to operate a golf course with EVERY bunker in terrible condition. It speaks to your work ethic and care of the course, quite frankly. No effort was put into any bunker, please see the attached picture.
I really do see potential in this course, though. A little effort in certain areas (the greens and bunkers) can go a long way! I do not know if I would recommend playing here this year, but would like to try it in the future to see if any improvements are made.
Will be back again and again!
Course would get 5 stars if not for bunkers which is understandable given the weather we have experienced the last several weeks. Staff is excellent, facilities are top notch, and course is challenging but fair.
Fairway and greens decent, bunkers awful
Walked the front only, but the fairways and greens were in good shape. The bunkers, however, need some serious work. Weeds, packed sand, a little effort could go a long way in how the course looks.
Great course
This is one the best course and lay out course I had the pleasure of playing. Canr wait to play again
Good layout
Good layout, but greens were rough in quite a few spots, dead spots! Spring time conditions for the fairways and rough, not a great lie to be found, especially around the green. Yardages could be better marked, especially card could be a lot better marked as far as a map for first time players to navigate around course!
Great Course
Always enjoy playing Willows. A challenging course that will consider using every club in your bag.
Course was in good conditon. It had been wet the day before and never fully dried out before I played it, but fairways and rough were of ease to hit out of. Bunkers seem to need some work before the season begins. Shot 73 with some new irons so the layout made it easy to work those in. Overall 8.5/10
A good test of Golf
Front nine is tight and tests your placement skills . Hole # 4 a Bogie feels like par . Back nine # 10 plays like a par 5 . All in all one of the tougher courses in Northern Kentucky.
Weather permitting
18 Holes of overcast.
Good friends, New clubs, and a little friendly competition, What a great Day.
The Fox Run course is in good condition and the greens were running at about 10.5 to 11.
Terrific shape
The willows course was in terrific shape compared to when I played over the summer. Excellent conditions and the weather was very delightful. Will be going back again.
Poor
One of the poorest courses I've played at in the past couple of years. Greens are in bad shape. Staff was all over the course, forcing us to either stand and wait or play on as they awkwardly watched from the sides of the green on several holes.
Needs help
I played the Willows today for 1.49 so it was worth that....but at regular price you would be disappointed....this course used to be my favorite around here to play, but now it’s like Meadowood....fairways are patchy at best, a couple greens were terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE....rough wasn’t altogether awful, hard to spot your ball on a couple holes, but it is the rough so I’m good with that....layout is awesome and course could be great again if properly managed....I won’t return this year but might give it a shot next year
Goat ranch
The public golf courses at Kenton County continue to go downhill. The fairways are patchy. The greens are worse. If you mistakenly miss the fairways with your drive, prepare to say goodbye to your ball because you'll likely never find it. The "Old man's club" that seems to be promoted out here is actually hurting the course. Way more unrepaired ball Mark's than repaired. Top that off with a refreshing $2.50 diet coke and... (way overpriced). It seems to be all the public courses around here. Boone county courses are not much better. Best decent golf in the area is Belterra or North to Cincinnati.
help me help you
I want to like this course I really do...I’ve played at Kenton Co since high school — 20+ years — but the past five years have seen a steady decline in the care of the course. They are making some improvements, but it’s probably to little to late.
The greens were horrible, fairways tolerable and tee boxes concrete...
great time
Took my 7 yr old son with me, both of us had a great time.
Pathetic shape for a golf course
Worst conditioned course I've played this year (30+). Superintendent should be embarrassed. Greens fee should be $15 or less. Besides the conditions, the layout is not for the average golfer. On certain holes, just off the fairway, the rough is no longer mown for no particular reason, other than to save $$. Spent all their $$ on the clubhouse and re-design of the parking lot! That's what golfers want, a lovely clubhouse and parking lot!! HAH!!
