Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Kentucky (2015 #3)
Reviews
D.l.
Overall nice condition for the money, pace of play was poor almost 5 hours.
Nice Layout
First time playing the course and it was somewhat challenging especially the par 3's, par 4's were generally short. Greens rolled true so no complaints there.
Only thing I would ding the course for is that it is VERY POORLY marked. With no GPS on the carts and if you don't have a rangefinder with you, you can forget about figuring out distances and this will lead to a frustrating day of golf. No excuse for not having yardage markers in the fairway's or on the tees.
Puts & Takes
Architecture / layout nerds will have some critiques, but it’s a good value at $40-$55.
Pros: water features well-maintained, few/no ‘dead’ areas, plenty of interesting shots (blind, forced carry)
Cons: no yardage markers, gas carts/no gps, greens are too small relative to their severity (side hill pins unavoidable)
Hidden gem
Course is in great shape as well as the green. Best course around Louisville for the money IMO.
Solid Kentucky Country Course.
Very good course that’s is kind of out of the way. Course was in great condition, I played in great time and I enjoyed the sporty layout.
It’s northern Kentucky and as to be expected is quite hiilly. Greens were located in green spots and were well maintained. It is worth a play if in the area.
Nice Golf Course
Greens were great, weather perfect, course in nice well kept condition
Excellent Condition
If you haven't played Henry County, GO DO IT! The fairways and greens are in GREAT condition and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Plan on eating one of their hamburgers - they are huge and delicious.
Great greens
Enjoyed our round. Greens are always great here. Conditions all around were great this time. Pace of play for a Sunday was really good.
They are punching the greens the next two days. Might take a week or two to heel.
Really don't understand why booking fees are so high for the hot deals. All that money is going to golfnow yet they tack on a heavy booking fee. I have been a pretty loyal customer. The last two years they have waived the fees after a certain number of bookings. I would rather have that than rewards.
Great Shape
Compared to a lot of other courses in the area, Henry County CC is in great shape. Fairways were excellent. Everything really green ----must have been well watered and kept in great shape by staff. Had not played there since I was a kid. Will be going back soon.
Great deal
Best course conditions I've played on for a public course this year.
An Enjoyable Round
The course was in great shape. Particularly impressed with the greens which were mostly clear of ball marks - great for this late in the season. Some challenging fescue if you have trouble staying in the fairways. We played on a sunny, hot day and there were surprisingly few trees so there was little shelter from the sun. Pro shop was nearly non-existent. We did not use the dining facilities, but they appeared adequate. Overall a good day.
Golf Day at Henry County
Great place to golf, encourage you to try course. It was hot but had a quick pace and nice place to play!
Hidden gem
Every time I play here I start thinking of ways I could join and play exclusively here. But then I'm reminded it's a 60 mile drive from home and business. Yes, it's thAt good of a track! Fairways and greens at always in perfect condition, well groomed as are bunkers. The rough is very well kept, challenging yet very fair and nit so deep that balls are hard to find. Will play every chNce I get.
Simple and Straight Forward
Course is in pretty good shape. Fairways were well manicured. Rough wasn't very rough which made it a very forgiving course from the tees. Greens putted well but didn't provide much room to spin balls. It's a pretty easy layout and super short. Very scoreable course that you can hit driver wedge on a bunch of the holes. I'd play here again but I'm not rushing back.
Great Fairways
Greens were very nice, but the fairways were probably the best I have played all year. Ready to go back
