Shelbyville Country Club

Have walked this course many times to watch junior league and high school tournaments but never played. . Never have I seen this course in this great of condition From tee to green you couldn’t ask for better. Can’t wait to go back.

Course was in great shape, but pace of play was quite slow.

My first trip there was for a practice round for an upcoming tournament 8/24/26. The fairways, greens and course are in excellent shape. What impressed me the most was the club pro looked us up in the 5th tee box to welcome us to the course. Looking forward to going back!

Staff was great, course conditions were very good, didn’t love layout. Holes were on top of eachother couple times sharing tee boxes. Good course for the $.

I have played this course several times and the course conditions were the best I have seen them. The pro and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the value was unbeatable.

No better way to describe the course. It is a Gem in the Rough. Off the beaten path and located about 30 miles east of Louisville, Kentucky. Whatever challenge you want from a golf course is found here. It really tempts the long ball hitters to cut corners and really take on the risk for reward challenge. Water is located on many holes as well to tempt you to shorten the course for a closer approach shot to very receptive yet undulating greens. If I lived a bit closer you would find me there much more frequently. A true Gem inviting you to come enjoy the challenge and superb course conditions.

The course is in overall good condition though there seemed to be some inconsistency with the speed of the greens. It's been a year since I last played this course and found it to be confusing to navigate. My group ended up several times on the wrong tee and had to backtrack each time. It was a very windy day and there is plenty of water around the course to make it extra challenging. The rough was non too friendly either. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I would play this course again.

First time staying and playing in Shelbyville and would definitely return. Group of 10 of us came down from Michigan and were treated like members. Greg the Pro greeted us and Whitney in the pro shop could not have been friendlier. we played early morning and the greens were receptive and only medium speed. Tees, Fairways, Rough, Bunkers and Greens were all well taken care of and in great condition. Prices were very reasonable for beverages, food and attire. Pace of play was right around 4 hrs.

Everything about it has us wanting to come back next year.

First off the folks in the pro shop couldn’t be friendlier, when I arrived that lady working behind the counter was super friendly then the head pro came up and introduced himself,

I was treated like an old friend and the pro asked if I had played there before (I hadn’t) and took the time to walk me through the course routing and areas to be concerned with on where to hit and where not to hit. I also received a brief history of the course which was very cool. The course opened almost 100 years ago during the Great Depression and not many golf courses opened during that time period. It opened as a private country club and is still being maintained as if it was one,

Fairly tight fairways but all of the tee boxes and greens were in FANTASTIC shape for January, while it is not a long course it provided a challenge and I think I hit every club in my bag at least once. To play course well you need to be able to work the ball both ways and understand where not to hit it to have a decent shot into the green.

Bunkers where all in good shape with plenty of sand,

There were maintenance guys out on the course keeping it clean but paid attention and stopped what they were doing to not distract you from you shot.

I played as a single and got around in about 2:20 minutes,

Will definitely play if I’m in area again.

Fun old school course, like getting throw back into time.

Definitely started my round off on the right foot

Challenging old school layout (for an 18 hdcp). Small greens and tight fairways and don't overshoot the greens. In my favor was nice fluffy rough that's easy to hit out of compared to other rough of a similar depth. Convoluted layout, but fun holes. Bad shots punished. Good shots punished. Great shots rewarded. Greens were baked firm on my visit on not receptive, but it was during a heat wave. Would like to return when they're softer.

Course was in fine shape. Challenge for all levels.
