A few challenging holes and a few not so. Good balance.

Will do it again...........Course is open, up and down. Some side hill lies. Greens faster than expected. Beautiful day and a little crowded but moved along very well.

A delicious morsel; hidden gem

This course doesn't have a sprawling clubhouse with grand piano and attendants wiping your clubs; it has a beautiful track with outstanding service and members, set in a scenic and tranquil part of the country that will make you want to move there. Excellent tee boxes, greens that rival Louisville's best CC's (and I worked at a nice one), and truly just great grass (in general). Rewarded in fairways (B)/punished in rough(B-)/greens fast enough to blow it and slide a ball off one with the putter but smooth enough to "shoot pool" on (solid A--Valhalla, Big Springs, Lake Forest, and Persimmon Ridge being A+/A++). I'm not saying the layout is as challenging as some of the courses that have money poured into them by PGA of America, etc, but you wouldn't be on GolfNow if you were a member at Valhalla. I shot 8-10 strokes higher than usual, but didn't lose 1 ball in spite of seeing water on 5-6 holes, occasionally seriously, requiring driver/long iron proficiency to clear them. I also read somewhere that there were no bunkers. Bulljive! I felt like I was practicing my sand game half the day, there just isn't an overwhelmingly large amount of fairway bunkers. It wasn't like blasting out of the fluff at Pebble or any of the courses on Hilton Head Island, but it was fair for these parts (B/B-) I do have to mention that it's vaguely short, but that allows a 35 year old with no aspirations of playing the tour to stay competitive in the driver category and see birdie chances fueled by approaches with short irons and wedges instead of hybrids or fairway woods. I also should mention that those of you with a left to right ball flight are going to struggle with OB and farm land to hit into off of 4-5 tee boxes and may want to club down. I recommended this to my buddy frequently.
It is my opinion that this course, especially at the prices offered on GolfNow, should be selected before any Metro Parks course in Louisville (period). The friendly people and course make it worth the 45 minute drive. Bring fishing rods and a camera and visit Lake Jericho on the way out ($3). With the leaves turning to fall, this was better scenery than any screensaver sold.
