Okay for casual round
This was my first time playing Walden. My buddy and I were a twosome, and st check in everything was straightforward and we were told to see the starter. We went straight there and waited 15, but never saw a starter, so we just teed off at our start time (with no one ahead of us). By hole 2, we had caught up with the 3some ahead of us, and it was a slow day from there, waiting for every shot. They had groups ahead of them, too, so playing through wouldn't have helped. We weren't in a hurry, but it would have frustrated me on a different day. It seemed like most of the golfers on course that day were newbies.
Course conditions were okay, but not great. Sandy tee boxes, some bare spots on some greens, no ball washers on course. Interesting layout on some holes, but also some pretty short, straightforward par-4's. I'd play it again (close to my buddy's house), but only for a cheap, casual round when I have time to burn.
Fun
Paid about $34 per person in our foursome booked through the online site. Had a great time playing the course. A good amount of the tee boxes were either full of sand or very messed up. Would definitely like the play this course again. One thing I did not like tho was there were basically no markers to tell you how far away from the hole we were and the yardage on the score cards were often wrong on the par 3's. Overall tho, the course was a lot of fun to play and I would definitely play it again.
Muni Style Course
Got a great deal from Golf Now so played it on Memorial Day. Rough is a little spotty and a couple of weird blind shots off the tee. Other than that, not many courses open to the public near Annapolis and this was an unexpected surprise. On par with Compasses Point, Bay Hills, and others in AAC and maybe a little better.
Crabby
Fairway grass over grown & full of crab grass. Weird Course design, you cross so many public roads. Most holes feel the same!! The first and the last time I play here. Let me sum it up this way. I wouldn't play for free!!!
"Almost all the way back"
This course has come a long way in a short period of time. The greens were rolling true and the fairways are cut nicely. Our only gripe was the bunkers but you should not be in those anyway. Hole 2 is still one of toughest holes around. We played this little gem in 3hrs 40mins. The golf now price and challenges of narrow holes make this lots of fun.
great time
Booked a early tee time, was able to tee off earlier than expected. The course was in excellent shape.
The course was very challenging, I would recommend the course for everyone from a beginner to the elite.
Great course
The course was in great condition. Staff was friendly as always. The weather was perfect and our foursome had a great day. Couldn't have asked for more and the "hot deal " price was unbeaten.
Great Conditions
This course is really improving. The greens were recently aerated but in good condition. Course fairways are very good. I enjoyed the food and the staff was very nice. I will return and also tell others about the great condition of this course.
The course and faculty was horrible!!!
Worse day of golf ever!! This is about a $10 course at best and got charged $37.00 per person as a discount. We had 7 in our group and all said the same thing. The folks working here are rude and unprofessional. No food or beverage cart on the course for the weekend...?. I will never play here again and will make sure to tell everyone I know about this experience.
Course Didn't Disclose Aeration - Maybe Play in a Few Months
This course has seen it's ups and downs, mostly downs from my conversations with a member, but it is starting to turn the corner. The course layout , while short, has enough features to challenge both tee and approach shots. The greens were just aerated, with large granular sand all over. This made for putting conditions which are unacceptable. Some greens had large dead spots as well. If I knew this before, I would have played somewhere else. I received a great deal on the green and cart (over 60% off) now I know why. The staff was friendly and the clubhouse/bar menu is good. I hope to see this course in much better shape one day.
Good value golfing experience
The course is in fair condition during the winter months. Greens were good, ball roles smooth.
The course lets u hit all your clubs from the back tees, which I always play from. One thing they need to improve is the back tee boxes which need to improve on. Other than that, I like the course!!
Too early
Course was certainly not in top condition as to be expected coming out of a tough winter. I believe the course is owned by the HOA and they continue working on trying to salvage it. My recommendation is that homeowners should recognize that even though it is there course, they must pick up after their dogs and refrain from strolling across fairways oblivious to incoming golf balls.
great local bargain
Had to inquire in clubhouse why all the new sand in the bunkers, new mgmnt, great improvement. Goose issues on some greens , pin placement helped with that. Stay below the hole if possible, large undulating , smooth, some frozen, greens, links style play, nicely mowed for Jan. Ball still rolled well. Money well spent. Cart paths concrete, close to greens and good for seniors.
walden
My group has played this course about 14 times this year, and with a 54* day in December and a great Hot Deal price another trip was well worth it. The 19th hole is always on the menu to enjoy whatever game might be on as well as great food and beverages.
As for the course here's the skinny.... It's.not super long even from the tips but you most certainly will not have your way, so bring you golf game and thinking hat , a great risk/ reward as the layout gives you options with the most important one being a good shot is necessary. Good course for all skill levels. A frost delay was our only issue.... Can't beat Mother Nature, as naturally this put more golfers on course, but we still managed to finish before dark.We brought along a few guests to our normal group of 12 and they were also happy to have played here too.
Tight Course
Rarely play this course due to it being very tight and a lot of long forced carries. If you don't strike the ball well you'll lose a lot of balls. Hats off to new management, course is in best shape I've ever seen it.
Tale of two nines.
Front nine hit driver 1 time, back nine 7 times. Course conditions better than other courses in this area. Played in less than 3 hours.
Great deal
We played on verterans day for $29 which was a great deal. Course was in great shape tree s rolled really nice. Staff was great. Very narrow course you must hit the ball straight
This is a great course for distance and short game
I enjoy playing this course. It is long in some places and short in others. It allows you to work on your driver and irons. The water holds are great and the course is in great shape.
What I liked about the course
The course had a very nice layout. It's a very tight course but has a nice design to it.
My dislike are, the course is very poorly marked. Was hard to just distances to hazards and yardage to the green.
Fair price for the traditional style course
The course was in a decent shape, with the fairways being ok. The rough and other side had bald spots. Some of the greens were chewed up, and was in a varying degrees of speed. The fairway had no sand base, so if you are on a tight lie, you will hit mud. There was no one controlling the pace of play, and there were some 4-somes that were blocking some holes. Passing through 7-8-9 holes were slow. When checking in, the cashier tried to over-charge me. The young lady did not know the proper fees to charge for the Golfnow customer
