It's ok
I know they are fixing this problem at the moment but the greens and tees need a lot of work. I feel like the place has a lot of potential, they just need to invest some more money and time in it. I do believe it can become a very nice course.
Not ready for prime time
This was the old Brook Course which was closed a couple years ago and was not in great shape. It is worse now. The greens are not playable. Fairways are basically mowed weed patches. There is little Bluegrass remaining. The new owners did to a lot of updating to ball washers, Hole marker signs, drainage, flags, etc but that is wasted unless they can get the course in at least decent shape. It's not really playable at this point in time. Course layout is the same but back nine has become front nine. I suspect because current front nine is in the worst shape. The current back nine is a little better but still in rough shape for any golf course in this area. If the, owners can get this course in shape, it would at least have a chance. If it stays in the current form, it won't be open long. Most(if not all) golfers won't return to play a second round. I won't . Mike is looking down and frowning :<(
Fun Experience
The Brook is a fun experience because in order to play 18 you have to play twice and playing the same holes twice I think gives you a chance to make up for mistakes you learned on the front. Good course long drive out though which kind of makes it hard to play.
Potential is there...
I really think this course could have been a great course back-in-the-day. The layout is fairly easy but fun to play. The bunkers are average and the greens were a bit slow when I played the course in mid-July.
The "Brooks" within the heart of the course were holding little to no water when I went which was disappointing because it could have been beautiful when the water levels are high.
Tee boxes are decent and the fairways are well groomed.
old school
friendly staff , course was in good shape rye grass fairways and tees. greens where great could have been a little faster overall fun to play and will play again.
ok at a discount
First time at the Brook in a long time. Greens were just airated and were rough to play. Fairways were like playing on pavement. I'll try again after it rains a bit.
Course for beginners and hackers
No water in ball machines, no sand for repair, golfers don't fix divots, but greens were ok.
I would not recomend this course!!
I could not tell the difference between the fairway and rough. A lot of rough spots. Greens slow, we got behind a foursome that would not let us play through that had cut in front of us while we where making the turn. We wound up quitting after a couple of holes on the back because we were tired of waiting and the course was not in great shape.
A little expensive for 9 holes w/cart
There are better 9 hole deals around Lexington. Course not bad.
Good course
Though I had an awful round of golf the course is maintained very well. Great greens and fairways. 2nd cut still in a playable length. Tee boxes are great! Nice cushion, very friendly staff and some very great holes on this course
This course is a lot of fun!
The Brook is a well maintained course. It plays over 7000 yards from the back tees and the course has beautiful water features. I highly recommend this course to players of all skill levels.
Not much to be positive about
Probably was a nice course in it's day, but that day was 20 years ago. Fairways are in really rough condition. Dead trees everywhere. Grass not well mowed. Pro shop in worse shape that a farmer's shed. Not worth the price to play or your time.
Drainage?
Course layout is pretty straightforward, not exceptional. Greens had been aerated, lots of ant hills. Also, some fairways were plagued by swampy areas which was odd since we hadn't had a ton of rain lately. I will play again and would recommend at a deal rate.
Fairway
Fairways not cut or maybe should try a diffrent type of grass for fairways
Greens were perfect and course was well maintained, especially during peak fall
The leaves were abundant but had been managed by the course keepers....Fairways maintained and the greens were perfect. This is a great value for this area of the country
Better courses for the money.
This is a decent course. Decently maintained. Short track. Good if there aren't much options elsewhere.
Wide open fairways that need attention
Played The Brook in the early fall after a dry spell and the fairways were in rough shape and hard as rock. Difficult to hit from. Most holes feature wide fairways between lines of pine tree, which became rather boring. Except for a few holes that featured water the course was not particulary challenging. Greens were decent and the staff was cordial. Price was reasonable, but rate this course near the bottom of those I've played this summer. Certainly not up to Cherry Blossom or Old Silo standards.
Decent place
Fairways and greens are good shape... enough to make it a decent play. It has some really nice holes and requires some shot making. Keep it in the fairway and low scores are probable but enough trees around the course to create high #'s as it is difficult to get out of them as they are bunched together. Water also comes in play throughout the course.
Better hit it straight
This course has great potential if it was maintained properly. Great greens terrible bunkers

They were closed for 2 years. They were farmed on last year. What did you expect? It is way better than what it was. Do not blame the missed putts and the balls you lost on the course. The course will only get better in time, unlike your golf game.
