Woodford Lakes Golf Club

This is the second time I’ve played it since it opened as Woodford Lakes. When I played in October, we had just come out of the driest September on record and the course was quite dry. Now it’s in better condition. Since it had been closed for a few years they are still working on getting it better. Still like the layout and the greens are quick!

They canceled my tee time because they said they didn’t have any carts available at that time. My tee time was 8:12 am and they open at 7 am. Shouldn’t have any issues when it was booked two days in advance. They didn’t call to offer anything else. Just got an email saying they canceled it on my behalf. I feel I was bumped for someone else, maybe to pay full price. When I called about it, they said they could give me a tee time for 3:30 at the full price.

Golf course is definitely worth playing. Greens were a little beat up but overall solid golf course. I would join here as a member but I’m not as close to it as I’d prefer but solid golf course. Solid fairways and great tee boxes.

We got a Hot Deal and decided to try it out and were very impressed! It was very well maintained and greens were excellent (and a little fast). It was a bit slow because of a threesome in front of us and a foursome in front of them, but otherwise a great time.

It had more water than a lot of the courses I've played and my partner commented that it was pretty narrow in a few places, but still easy enough for a beginner.

They had soda and Gatorade available for purchase, but no food or alcohol. I'll note we went during the quarantine, so things may be different under normal operations. I saw people with coolers, so I think it is BYOB which is a perk in itself.

If they keep offering the "Hot Deals", it is most definitely worth the the hour drive.

The course is in much better shape than it was at the end of last summer when all the ponds were drained up and the fairways were burned. All the ponds are full and there’s grass growing in the fairways the green still need some work but it’s in very playable shape now

I had completed my round and went into the pro shop, I told him that it was my first time playing the course and I really enjoyed my round. I had expectations about it being late fall and the reviews I had already seen about the conditions, but playing it really dispelled any of those critical comments. All but a couple of the greens were in great shape and the ball rolled true. The course layout was particularly satisfying. Since it was my first time, I enjoyed studying the course and each hole. Every hole was unique and made you think about your shots and club selection. I did enjoy the appropriate amount of water, where the ponds and creeks are very nicely laid out, this is the best aesthetic about the course. When I said that I really enjoyed my round, the pro said to me that they had only been open a year. I was shocked, and was even more impressed that they had been able to rehab the course and get it in the condition it was. I'll definitely be back.

Greens were in great shape , fairways not so much.

Likely a very fun course to play when it is in better shape. They had just airrated a couple fairways, and the greens were hard. A lot of people out playing, but not much control over that. Gave it the ratings I did because of the SHAPE THAT IT IS CURRENTLY IN so that golfers know.

The course plays easy for average players like myself. Just play from the whites and you have a decent chance or scoring well.

You better know how to hit punch shots out of the trees because you will be there at some point. The greens were decent but several need more work.

Overall it’s a good course.

Despite the incredibly hot and dry weather the course is in excellent shape. They do a great job with the course and is always a lot of fun. Highly recommend this course.

Enjoyed the round. A little over-booked but very nice nonetheless.

First of all, the staff here were some of the best in the Lexington area. They were very friendly, unlike other courses around. The layout was very enjoyable. However the praises must stop there...

Excellent staff, and a very enjoyable layout mean nothing if the greens are horrible. Actually, horrible is too nice a term. They were the worst I have ever played....ever! It’s sad when you can’t make a 3 foot put because of bald patches knocking the ball off line. Some greens had probably up to 40% of un-useable space. It was quite sad, because I really wanted to like the course. But how can you like a course when you would of had better luck putting in the parking lot?

This course is not worth the greens fee, even with the hot deals of $20.
