City Delaying Improvements to Close the Golf or Incompetent course management
Where to start...the course is in very, very, very poor condition, the tee boxes are non-existent, the tee markers are to the side of the tee boxes placed in the bad grass. The fairways are marginal, the bunkers are nothing but compacted sand and weeds to the point of failure. The greens, multiple types of grass and weeds dominate the greens. Now, the course management has decided there should be (15) minutes between each players start and the marshal goes up, in sight of the first green, and will not let the next group tee off until the group ahead leaves the green...Ridiculous! So when you make the turn, guess what, no concession open, no, food, no drinks, (alcohol or otherwise). The current management even decided not to install vending machines to help out the golfers during the interim when they have no liquor license. A catastrophe is taking place at the Bowie Golf course and it would appear the City of Bowie is letting the golf course go into such disrepair that the golf course will eventually close and the land will be sold to some developer to build more houses and basketball courts....
In Transition
Owner/Manager needs to proceed with upgrades and attention to bringing course and facilities up to par.
Enjoyable
I brought a threesome and played with an employee at the course, Paul, who was great fun.
We hope to run into him and look forward to being back later in the saeson.
Course needs liquor license and food
Was a member and played the course over 200 times.
Potential for improvement
Need to upgrade grounds and reopen restaurant and restrooms.
Half decent course
Dead leaves were cleared from the fairways. Greens were soggy and unresponsive. Cart path drive will require chiropractor after the game. Starter was rude. Snack bar was closed. Golf Now was more expensive than clubhouse price.
Half decent
Golf Now charges more than at the club house. Most of the leaves were removed from the fairways. Greens were soggy, tee boxes need maintenance. Starter was very unfriendly.
Not playing again
Got a good deal to try out this course. However, before we even teed off on #1 we decided we were not returning. We watched staff berate someone who didnt go off the tee box correctly. Really awkward and not a professional way to begin a round.
Open after the snow
The team at Bowie are dedicated to getting us on the course regardless of Mother Nature’s snowstorm. Trees and branches everywhere.. Workers hustling to remove the obstacles. It was poetry in motion. 39 degrees when we teed off with remnants of snow in shaded spots. Golf in January…priceless. Go Bowie!
Good public course
Old course with good design and ownership trying to keep it an overall good experience. Nice people seem to be running it and nice people seem to be playing it.
