Tough Course
First time playing this course and I have to say it is a difficult one. The distances off the tees are not overly long but the difficulty is that if your tee shot or second shot is wayward, you will really be struggling.
Again, if you are off the fairway, you will need a masterful short game to chip through the pine trees to get back into play. Most courses I play have wider fairways so this course really was a challenge.
I thought the tee boxes and greens were in good shape considering the winter as well as the sand bunkers. HOWEVER, none of the sand bunkers (around the green or fairways) had a rake.
Good Hot Deal course
Course was in good condition. Consdering the time of year, fallen leaves were not a problem. Even while playing, there were course people clearing leaves from tee box to greens. Weather was great which brought out a lot of people, but pace was good. I would not hesitate to return.
Bowie Golf Club by Far Best Value Around
The improvements at Bowie golf club are readily evident everywhere you look, from fairways to greens. Anyone who has not played it in a while will be pleasantly surprised. The management is doing a great job bringing the course into shape and it is easily the best value for the money around this area, especially mid-week on a beautiful fall day.
Terrible Course Management
Tee boxes are like rough, fairways are mixed with mud, sand traps are devastating, and greens are too slow and like fairways. I don't want to play this course again even with 10 dollar green fee.
Good course for the money, but it needs better manicuring
It costs money to maintain a golf course. You want to pay $25-$30 and have a course conditioned like a course you pay $50-$75? Tough to have both. The course has been in good shape through the whole summer. Thanks for your comments.
Good value
Even with a tournament on the same day I got around in 4:10. Road construction made things tight but all in all a good round.
It was not too bad.
Went to this couse in the morning around 8am.
Par 70 couse. Fairways are not bad but I like the greens. It was well maintained and fast enough.
Good to play with little money. I will go back again.
Great course for none w/e warriors!! Love it....
This is a great course to play in a non-stress environment, especially for those trying to stay away from weekend warriors. The course is fairly well maintained, and the price is right, considering you always experience an enjoyable time, away from those who are unrealistic in their thought process looking to play on a PGA rated course, for just a few bucks. Sad to say, but you can't always fix stupid and win everyone who are unrealistic. This is my favorite local course, it's no stress and I always have a great time with my scratch buddy!
Love everything about this course
Bowie always comes to mind when I think of bringing a group to play or simply working on my Game! Staff are Great and attentive very welcoming and Friendly!
Great value
Bowie is in good shape this late in the season. The greens are well maintained but very soft after some brutal weekend storms. The front nine has some drainage problems that need to be addressed. The back nine was in very good shape.
Some parts of the cart path are just beat up and make for a bumpy ride. Sand traps are like concrete.
It's a great course for the occasional golfer who needs wide open fairways. I think seasoned golfers will find Bowie fun. Pace of play was slightly slow but it was a great afternoon and nobody was pushing anyone else.
Luckily we were paired with two brothers who were as nice as you'd find on any course.
I'll golf here again.
Thank you for the kind review. This fall you will see several improvements to the course including pavement work, cart path work, resurfacing all the senior tees and bunker repair , includes new sand. Hope to see you soon

Run of the Mill
BGCC is pretty basic when it comes to golf courses. Fees are low though so that's a plus. Some holes can be pretty challenging (i.e., doglegs, shots over water, etc.), and it can be a fun course to play. Amenities aren't great and the clubhouse is pretty old and rundown. If you're looking for discount golf, look no further.
Value for Dollar
Bowie golf club has tight fairways that will challenge your game. Course is in excellent condition. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pace of play allows you to play a round in about 4.5 hours. For those who like to walk is very easy to walk a round.
Vacation Go--To
Every time I take a vacation to visit my brother, we always go to this course. The grounds have never been too hard or too soft, and it's just a very fun course. Not hughely challenging, yet not super easy. Love it.
Course was in good shape, greens were rolling true. Pace was good, finished in 4 hours on the dot. Will go back for sure. John and the staff were welcoming and accommodating.
Final US golf before deployment
Staff person was vert welcoming and accomodating. He was kind enough to pair me with another single, who had the round very enjoyable. I played better than my partner, but we enjoyed each other's company. The only drawback were the Koreans in front of us who thought they owned the course and made pace of play very slow on the back nine. Course was in great shape and I shot a 93. Greens rolled nicely.

Because of the wet summer we developed a grub problem in the fairways causing the dirt piles . It's been treated. We are currently overseeding the entire golf course so the grass is young and needs to mature. Grass may seem high for a little while. Greens have been fertilized and are quickly growing. This allows the ball marks, which nobody fixes, to grow out and repair themselves. Yes bunkers are in bad shape and we hope to have that taken care of soon. Its a delicate balance to make golf affordable to the average person and maintain a golf course in tip top shape. Sorry we cannot live up to the standards of everyone. Have a blessed day
