Patuxent Greens Country Club

Greens fees were too high for a course with sand on the greens and bumpy fairways. If the course isn't quite prepared, then the price should be reduced.

I would return to this course because it has a good layout and is fairly challenging, but not until it is in better condition or the price is reduced.

I would play again if a couple of fairways and holes are cleaned up. It was ok to play.

The course is well maintained and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

I played at Patuxent Greens last year while the course was undergoing massive changes and i see the results of the efforts. The fairways were choppy and uneven, but after just 7 months of remolding, the new laid sod has the fairways in good condition, i antispicate that when all the work is completed, Patuxent green will be a top rated course in the area. I usually play in the baltimore area, someone told me about golf.now and for the value, Patuexent green will be one of our weekly outings. The staff is both professional & friendly. Please do not stop participating in GOLF.NOW because the group of golfers from Social Security Adminsitration has 'claimed" this course as one of their weekly courses.

Showed up 30 min. early for our tee time. We didn't tee off until 30 min. after it. The course was severely crowded/overbooked, and they had run out of carts. The starter (while quite nice) had less of an idea of what was going on than the golfers. That said, they did comp us a round each for our troubles.
The front nine took us just over 3 hr to complete, at which point we called it a day.
The front nine seemed to be a competent, if unspectacular, design, but it was still in pretty rough shape from the winter - especially the tee boxes, which were awful. They had aerified the course recently, so it's hard to grade the greens, but they seemed challenging enough.
Don't know if I'd pay full price to play here - I certainly wouldn't if the congestion is normal. I would like to see the course when conditions improve.

Understand the water drainage problem. If the greens had a little attention would make for a better day.

The golf course is in good shape, it was very cold when we played ( to even put down the tee was very difficult because the ground was frozen). My team and I enjoyed ourselves.

Course conditions were horrible. Every single ball I hit got plugged. standing water on almost every hole. Staff was dismissive at best. No one was on the course and I see why. If the staff doesn't wanna work at a golf course just find another freakin job.

It's a relatively challenging course but the conditions of the greens needs work. The green fee prices are cheaper than most so I guess it evens out at the end of the day.

This is my neighborhood course. For the longest time I only consider it a practice course, because it was so cheap and in such bad shape. However, over the course of the last year they have really improved it. The fairways have only improved sligthly, the tee boxes and greens on the other hand have vastly improved. The best part of it all, the prices are as cheap as they have ever been. I will not go as far as saying is a pristine course, but for the price it is a super excellent course.

We played with the hot deal price 19$ and enjoyed pretty much in freezing condition... In the back 9 our cart was gradually lost the power so that we called and asked for alternative one drove by a freindly young staff in few minutes. Despit of less numbuer of staff we totally satisfied with the day and I renewed my best score! The greens were well maintained and difficult ^^

arrived for a 11:54 tee time as a single they had frost delay which made my tee time scheduled for 1:30 starter acknowledged I would be too late to finish 18. About 12:45 starter told me if I had a cart I could get out. another single player and I were able to snatch a cart from someone who had given up trying to finish because they got out 3 hours late and starter allowed us to play back 9 with single abandoned by others in his foursome that had gotten out 2 hrs latre and had other commitments. course was very crowded I was out so late I could only do 9 holes,

The course was 1 hour behind on tee times and still letting walk ons. Then after waiting 90 To tee off, i left and they offered me a raincheck

Pros: The course was in fairly good shape

Cons: Everything else! No one was very helpful. The starter was nowhere to be found. There was no course ranger when you were out there on the course. They booked tee times within 3 minutes, 3 MINUTES!!!! Therefore the course was totally jam packed, we waited essentially on every shot on every hole. It took us around 5 1/2 hours to play our round.

Conclusion: Not sure if they had staff issues but it was the first time playing there, they had zero clue how to run a respectable golf course and the experience was terrible. Sad because the course was actually in pretty good shape and it was a great day to play. I will not be coming back to Patuxent Greens.

Bring extra balls! Water is in play on a lot of holes. There are a few clunker holes, artificially short forcing lay-ups, but overall greens in nice shape after being punched last month. Not a basher's course, but more of a thinker's.

Can be pretty slow, a lot of newbies and slow movers.

Last time I played here was 2011, but the condition is way better now. The green is nicely cared, the fairway is not too bad. There was no one in front of us so we finished 18 in just 3.5 hours. And for $16 with cart, you can't ask for more.

Nice wildlife on this course, saw a couple gophers and they are really funny when they run across the fairway....nothing special but it is well kept and over all a good course and perfect for the 20$ I dropped on the tee time...

For the Golfnow price, it was a great value. Played mid morning and the pace of play was very good. However, the course could have been in better condition as there are bare spots on most of the fairways. It's obvious that work is being done to the course as tee boxes were recently sodded and trees and brush have been cleared.

Yes, indeed they have been putting a lot of work into fairways, tees and some into greens. The greens are in need of further work however, you will not find a better course for the money. Staff seems to be very cordial, never had any issues. Weekdays, between 12:45 and 1:45 are great starting times. Patuxent Greens has a tremendous potential. Better to be accurate than power.
