Links at Challedon

The layout and setting are attractive. The course winds its way through a housing plan but the homes sit well away from each hole. The staff is courteous and friendly. The course, however, needs work. The conditions were not good even for fall golf. I would come back but only after they invest in better maintenance of the course.

Apparently no effort was made today to blow the greens clear of the normal fall tree detritus. While we all understand leaves will be present - and mobile (when dry) - there were about eight holes today where the greens were totally covered in helicopters and leaves. The only way to clear a path to the hole was with a leaf blower; which we did not have.

Love the course - but course management HAS to blow the greens clear at least morning and mid-day. No excuse for this price.

Overall good experience and great value. Tee boxes and greens not in top condition. Many unrepaired ballmarks. Poor footing on some tees. Fairways, rough and traps in good condition.

Have played here before and found excellent conditions throughout. Was disappointed to find a number of fairways had brown spots and greens were in disrepair with weeds and ballmarks. Tee boxes have been reseeded but have not grown in yet. Traps were in good shape. New carts are excellent!

Friendly course with a layout that is not too challenging for single digit handicappers with beautiful trees, water and rolling hills in a country club setting.. great food in the club house with friendly and helpful staff

I had played Challedon years ago and always thought it was a premier couse. A bit disappointed as the tee boxes, sand trAps, and greens were in poor condition.

I have played on this course several times . My third time this year. The course has always been in great condition. I especially have liked the greens for their smoothness and speed until now.

The greens have been neglected. Crab grass all over the greens. Seems like they must have lost an experienced caretaker and don’t have a replacement.

Pace of play was very slow….. hardly any Marshall made the round on Saturday. No cart girl either on the rounds either.

At least that would have helped. A stop in the club house after the 9th hole only to be told cash only…. Order took longer than the 10 minutes given, luckily that meant the pace was better on the back nine.

What’s worse, I went to the pro-shop after my round and talked to the GM and the golf professional about the course conditions and they swore everything was great on the course…. apologized that the greens were not to my liking.

What a pathetic response to constructive feedback. Head in the sand approach like the proverbial ostrich was the last response I expected!

I’m sorry my golf now price of 39 dollars was too much for a crappy round. I could have had a better round at a county course.

Unfortunately I have to endure this course one more time as I have a prepaid tournament to play there next week.

Please take care of this once great course and heed the feed back you have been getting from the players, They are more objective than your perception.

The course was just okay. A lot crab grass on putting greens. Some of the tee boxes were “under construction” the fairways were in average to good shape. The course played well, but I just remember it being more well kept. When I played in tournament in prior years but just not the same visual experience. Staff was super young and I just could get the old feeling back I had years ago. At $89 for this area you just expect a better experience.

Friendly staff and starter. Decent pace of play; could have been faster. Despite the bad reviews on the bunkers, I found they were decent. Not hard packed and didn’t encounter pebbles or rocks at all. The tee boxes are clearly a work in progress, but I wouldn’t say they hindered play significantly. Some spotted greens from apparent cicada killer infestation holes (saw several while playing). Fairways were excellent. Rough was good with some patches. Would totally play here again for overall value, staff/service, and conditions.

Haven’t plaid it in two years because it is overpriced and not well kept. Tee boxes are very beat up, fairways were in fair shape and greens were ok but pretty slow. Bunkers were very nice actually and the marshals did a pretty good job at keeping the pace moving but still took 4 1/2 hours even though the sign on cart says it should be a 4 hour round.

I wish the owners would put some money into taking care of the course instead of trying to promote the restaurant and “venue”.

This was my first time out, and I really enjoyed the course. It raiined hard, so the bunkers were very wet. It seemed that the sand was also full of pebbles, so the bunkers were definitely not good to play out of. Other than that, the course held up well to the deluge, and the greens were fair and putted true. It's a course where you can have a very good round if you are hitting the ball straight. I will say that we had a hard time finding our balls in the rough even on good drives and sometimes had to drop and play from where we assumed the ball should be. Overall good experience. Would like to come back on a day when it's not so wet and try again. It's definitely more interesting than some of the more expensive courses in the area, and it was worth the extra drive.
