About
Agawam Municipal Golf Course has been a favorite among local golfers since first opening in 1944. It has a traditional layout that offers a few challenges but it's still player friendly enough for golfers of any skill levels. The holes are fairly straightforward but the gently rolling hills provide some subtly tricky elevation changes. There isn't any water on the golf course but there are mature trees lining the fairways. While it may not be what you're looking for if you're an avid golfer who wants a truly formidable test, Agawam Municipal Golf Course is not to be under-estimated. The greens can be tricky to pitch to and accuracy will take you far. This municipal course is a great spot for a quick and casual round that's also affordable.

A morning round at Agawam
Overall was a good round. Nice day. A little hot. Only complaint, was that the starter let 3 twosomes in a row tee off, rather than making foursomes. It slowed the round down. Due to the rain the previous day, and night, the course was alittle wet, so the rough was long, and the greens were slow. Nice municipal course.
Pace of play
Course is very well-maintained and very nice. Staff was great however, extremely disappointing that so many golfers there had no golf etiquette.
Started off very slow as a twosome with a young boy. We’re teaching the boy how to fake off. However, they were courteous because there was a force him in front of them that appear to just be there for the party.
The twosome let us in front so we were not following that for some. They were men in their 30s. As we cheat off of the ninth hole, those men were up at the 10th Teebox. Once we finished the ninth off, those men were still there, but somebody ran into the bar for more alcohol. We sat waiting, while those for some teed off and two of those men hit a second shot. They played super slow, could barely hit the ball and didn’t even consider letting anyone through we quit at the 10th off even though we had paid for 18, which was very disappointing, will not go back.

Great course
Course was in great condition, staff very friendly. Would absolutely recommend to any skill level golfer. Wasn’t the greatest pace of play on that day which can happen anywhere but other than that a very fun course.

Great local golf course
Great course, conditions are in great shape, nice improvements on 1/2, love new patio, food good, Tom , Cam, Ed, and staff are the best, and of course Sharon in the cafe. Thanks for all you do for members, guests and Town.

Solid Golf, Fine Views, Strong Value
Although Agawam’s course rates 66.9 against par of 70, a good score won’t be handed to you here on a plate. True, the front nine allows for birdies by several short par-4s, but you still have to putt some of the more sharply tilted greens well for success. Before concluding the front, too, holes eight and nine will test your mettle: first the long, uphill, 560-yard five par; then one of the toughest ‘short’ par-3s anywhere. The incoming nine toughens considerably, and, in 10, 11 and 12, demands careful driving off the very high tees down to woodlined fairways. Eleven, a particularly strong hole, features an elevated green set upon a huge mound that may demand as much as two more clubs from the fairway. The back nine continues through woodland, ending on a trio of unusual and demanding holes, two of them being oddly-configured par-5s. The seventeenth green itself may give some golfers fits. The shorter par-3’s are surprisingly good here, with the downhill, postage stamp fifth–like most of the rest–appearing almost harmless but a tougher par than expected. For me, then, Agawam has turned out to be a feisty short course, only learned through repeated visits.
Conditions today were good overall, best on the greens, by far the weakest on several of the bunkers–which appeared to be virtually ignored–even if others were fine. A couple of fairways were in less- than-average shape; most looked better. Some of the cart paths also seem to have been improved over last year.
With an open, spacious-feeling front side balanced by a tighter back, with greens that vary in many degrees between subtle to severe, and with some strong hole variation–especially on the back–this course is a good choice for golfers who want some fairly serious golf at a value price. I would say it’s the best value, in fact, among the dozen or so courses I’ve played so far this year. And the pace today was brisk.

Best course in western mass
Relaxing course to play, fun, forgiving and great price. Play preferred lies and i can’t find a complaint about it. I don’t go anywhere else.

Ok conditions .. a good value for $23
Course was ok .. it’s in early season fair condition and the pace of olay was good for a Saturday.. golf bow $23 was a good value .
