I've been playing this course off and on for 50 years.
The pace of play was slower than slow. The condition of the course was the worse I've ever seen it. They appear to have cut maintenance costs and are just milking the course. This was one of the premiere courses in Massachusetts, not any more.
couples day
Tees for the most part were in very good shape. Fairways were excellent. Rough was very difficult and the greens were good except for maybe three which had some disease.
Food at the restaurant was quick and tasty. It took four hours to play with a 30 minute lunch break. It was windy but a very good day to play golf. I would highly recommend this course for the cost.
Coming around nicely
The course is coming around very nicely. Fairways & t-boxes are in good shape (already, for springtime). Greens need to be worked on (but getting much better) and from what I hear they are being airated shortly. The course is flat enough to walk, but long enough to challenge anyone from the whites. Staff is friendly, the food & drinks are reaonable, and the clubhouse large. My best suggestion, go play it, you will have a blast.
Nice long course
This course has a nice layout with some challenging holes. All in all decent course for intermediate golfers.
the course was in good shape considering all the rain we been having this spring
Good condition for this time of the year
Course in ok condition for April play . Putting greens still bumpy and inconsistent and some fairways still wet. The course will be in great shape in about 3 weeks when the grass wakes up and starts growing . Over all not bad for this time of the year
Excellent early season conditions!
Always enjoy westover gc....great layout, easy walking, great value! Greens fast which I like.
Wonderful place
This is a good golf course. Great layout nice length and plenty of laughs.
Always a pleasure to play
Maybe last round for the year
Course was in excellent condition with leaves cleared from the fairway.
Good Value
Considering we played the day after a NorEaster with rain and wind, the course was in great shape - wet in a few places and some leaves. But didn't lose a ball . The greens rolled very good. The fairways and tee boxes in good condition. The pace of play was bad - 5 hour round. We had a 9am tee time. The did a shotgun start. We didn't start until 9:15. 5 hours is too slow! Other than that, very good day.
Course Needs Work
Usually, Westover has been pretty dependable in delivering good course conditions and pace of play. Today, both were terrible. In the years I have been playing this course, I don't recall the greens being in such poor condition. Putting anything outside of 4 feet is an exercise in futility; huge bare spots, uneven and bumpy. The tee boxes were also nothing but dirt on multiple holes. Disappointing.
greens need work
I have played this course many times and never saw the greens this roughed up. Maybe just too much rain water, but they need work.
Westover
Good deal for $30. Overall course conditions are okay. The rough was very thick and long. Made finding a ball difficult. The staff is very friendly. Greens were okay. Rough in spots. Overall a good value. Pace of play was okay.
course conditions.
WESTOVER was one of the best course around, now it seems like lack of maintenance or money is killing it!
That’s a shame!!
Second longest course in pioneer valley
Only the Ranch is longer from the tips but what really matters is you get a very challenging golf course in very good condition for very little money. This is a hidden gem loved by locals. The course used to be part of Westover air base for the officers and visiting dignitaries and was pristine but the layout remains even though the enlisted men are no longer grooming the grass for 50 cents an hour pay. If your visiting the Pioneer Valley don’t miss westover and the ranch.
