Waverly Woods Golf Course

Played Waverly Sunday March 11, 2018. Course is in winter shape; greens were above average for this time of year, well winterized hazards and tree lines, solid and even tee boxes. I play all year regardless of weather, so lots of experience to rate. A bit sandy but otherwise greens not marked up and consistent across the course. There are a assortment of house types near the course, looks like housing is encroaching too much for the regular season rate. I shoot low 80s, so not the constricting feeling, but not serene and affects aesthetics. The staff are awesome and they even had real grass range open which is rare for early, early Spring. Layout is challenging, have to have a guide or play a couple rounds to play well. The card was not adequate for understanding approach angles and pin placements on undulating greens. I appreciated the length of the course and condition/design of the greens compared to many in the area.

For late autumn the course was in good shape. The staff was great and welcoming. They told us about their winter simulator league that sounds like a great way to stay sharp and have some fun over the winter months. The greens were fast and the pin placement made putting very challenging but I am also a high handicapper. The fairways were still in good shape.

Service is consistently cold here. Don't treat customers like an annoyance. Pace was not great either.

Great layout with some challenging holes. Course in great shape and greens fast. Staff was a little cold could of had a little more personality. Not much of a Pro Shop either. But overall it was fine. I will definately play this course again.

We had an afternoon tee time at Waverly. Since it is a little more expensive than other courses in the area, I have only played here about 6 times in the last 10 years. That doesn't mean it isn't worth the money because it is. I just can't afford the green fees every week and I prefer to play many courses and not committed to any single course.

The practice facilities are the best in the area. The people that work there are really friendly. The golf course is a challenge but fair.

When we started playing, we notice that the pace was a little slow but not outrageous. The marshal came by and asked how we were doing and I mentioned the pace was a little slower than expected. He drove off and took care of the situation and stopped by later to see how things were going. I think we finished in 4.5 hours which isn't too bad for a Saturday afternoon.

I would recommend this course to anyone and would take out of town guests here.

It is a waverly wood golf course that I visited again after a long time.

I enjoy this course immensely. The layout is fantastic and challenging. Always nice to get a complementary warm-up bucket of balls. Pace of play was great. Fairway grass and putting surfaces were well kept and the rough was not penal.

The staff here have always been rude. From the front desk, to the slow service at the bar, to the grump marshalls, my group left feeling as though we were burdening them by being there.

For the money, the other two public courses in Howard County are FAR better and MUCH more welcoming.

Course was in great shape. Pace was great. Will definitely be back.
