Didn’t live up to reviews
Had a 65 5 AM teatime. Showed up a little earlier hoping to get some padding in but the sprinklers on the putting green and most of the parking lot in first tee we’re on up until tee time. From the tips the course is like hitting down a narrow hallway. No one apparently fixes their ball marks or replaces their debits. I could’ve laid an 8’ x 10’ carpet with the amount of debits laying on the Fairways. On some of the holes it didn’t look like they have moved the tea boxes in two weeks or more. The course does not get any sun because of the thick wooded area so everything was wet and thick. The claim to fame longest part five without a bunker is cool to play but the fairway ends 170 yards from the green which is silly because there’s 100 yards of rough when they could’ve just continued the fairway. Silly lay out in my opinion. I constantly felt like I was being bombarded with balls from other fairways. Would not play this track again.

Nice Course, Good Value and Challenging
We played this course on a very hot and humid Sunday afternoon. The 18-hole price was $48.00 to walk. Course is generally "walkable" with small rolling hills and relatively short distance between tee and greens. Golf course was in good shape. We only had two complaints. First is there are zero drinking water facilities on the golf course, which is a major issue when temperature is above 80 degrees. We brought water with us, but we ran out after about 7 holes. The drink cart person didn't seem to cover the entire course. We asked a grounds keeper to contact the drink cart person to come to our group. She finally arrived on hole #13 to sell us Gatorade and water. Second complaint was the sprinklers were running on several holes in the middle of our round on a Sunday afternoon. Temperature was around 90 and the sun was shining, so watering at the time didn't make sense as the water evaporates almost immediately, plus the interference with golf play. Other than that, we enjoyed the golf course and the two people we were paired with.

Great looking golf course. Tight driving with holes a bit tightly packed together. Definitely a great value and a course I am going to return to soon!

One Of The Best Around
It's a beautiful golf course with an elegant clubhouse. The staff is very friendly and it's just a must play for anyone in New England. Butternut is a few rungs up from an average, regular course in this area. It gets four or five stars in the ratings I'm sure. Fast, but true rolling greens. Tree lined holes with tight fairways. If you can't hit the tee shot straight, you will be in for a high scorecard I can assure you that. I have played here many times over the years, before the new clubhouse was built even. Put it on your must play list.

Pretty and challenging
I love this course enough to drive an hour plus to get there, even though I've yet to break 100, and typically elsewhere I shoot in the 90s. It is pretty but it demands good course management. Many of the fairways are tight and inaccuracy can be painful.
Every time I've played the course it's been in excellent condition and the staff couldn't be friendlier. Highly recommend!

Very Nice Course
This course has a decent layout, greens are mostly good to very good, although a little inconsistent on speed. The rough was punishing, and there are several blind shots to be wary of. Fairways are in good shape, and traps had actual sand in them. There’s big value in local knowledge, first time through caused something hiccups. Staff was nice. $80 for 18 with cart is a tad pricey for the course, but not terrible. It’s a walkable course if you prefer to avoid the carts. All in all a good day on the course.
