Cheap course close to home
Booked a round on GolfNow for 9:40 am and paid for it online. Went in and the country club had no record of it. Course was wet and swampy. And next door to the airport so lot of action in the air = lot of noise when trying to tee off.
Played worse places.
Played better places.
This was close and cheap and did the trick.
They can do better
Course is in poor condition. Some tee boxes might be ready next Spring. Fairways and greens poor. They are just not trying. Dozens and dozens of range balls in the fairway at holes 1 and 10. Again, they are not trying. Course layout is not adequate for beginners/poor players. Many many balls in our fairway were hit from another fairway. This place might do better as a nine hole track. Its great for watching low flying planes.
They can do better
The course was mostly an unkept mess. The first and 19 th fairways were littered with dozens and dozens of range balls, and the three course employees that we saw could not have cared less. …… I have not heard @fore” yelled so often in my 60 year golf career. On 7 different holes we had visitors from the neighboring fairway Clearly this is a beginners course as it stands. Finally, we had to use preferred lies, as there was a 50/50 chance your shot in the fairway did not stop on grass. The course is excellent for watching airplanes.
Shooting gallery
Watch out on 1 and 10 driving range in the middle good luck finding ya ball. Tee off early or it’s a 6 hour round. Tee boxes are crap and the greens are as bald as Michael Jordan’s head. I give this course a chance once a year and I’m done. 50 to walk on the weekend unsure what the cart fees are but all set.
Great course to learn
Nice course great conditions.
Greens are in tough shape
Greens are in tough shape and it’s not due to heat. They are dead in certain areas. I do not expect to go back again.
Tuesday afternoon 9 holes front
The course was in decent shape And the greens were decent a little bit slow.
The Pace of play was very poor had to wait a few minutes on every hole. The Force I'm in front of us was not playing ready golf and remain on the green. For a few minutes after finishing putting, we were at Tucson and they did not let us through.
On about.
The seventh hole one of the guys did say do you guys want to play through? But then he got reprimanded by somebody else in the group who said we're not slow. They're not playing through.
True.
We enjoyed our round . I’ve played here a number of times in the past.
The course condition is good. There are some burn out areas on some holes and some greens. Overall, it was very playable.
The staff was very courteous and helpful.
Drainage still a problem
I gave Norwood another try to see whether it was any better than previous visits. While the conditions are better than the state-owned courses, they are no better than some of the other less expensive courses in the area. In particular, while most of the tee boxes and greens were in good shape, some tee boxes were built on a side or down hill whereas some greens had some pretty bad dead spots. Fairways were mushy even though it hadn't rained for two days. One fairway had a 50' x 50' area 3 inches below water.
Finally, they were a bit short staffed - on a Sunday. So that impacted their ability to have a drink cart and the ranger didn't really keep a handle on the slow groups ahead of us - and then blamed us when they finally cleared one green suddenly before we teed off. Poor form.
Fair Course - I’ll be back
Tee to Green - Great!
Greens are Good, a true test for putting!
(some other courses in the area you can’t putt on)
Short and easy course
First thing I noticed is that the white tees are longer than the blue tees, figure this one out! Most Par 4s are quite short and the fairways are very generous. Not too many hazards to trap you. Fairways in decent shape except where it is muddy. Greens are in fair shape, a bit slow.
Course in rough shape. Tee boxes beaten up, greens in tough shape, many holes were being watered, but no one was shutting them off as you came through. So if you hit it near the sprinklers, you had to rush in and grab your ball or try and hit fast before the water came back around. It's halfway between where a buddy and I live so it works, but if you can play somewhere else, I would play somewhere else.
Always Fair Play
Always a good “Fair-Play” level golf experience…
No complaints
Always see efforts toward improvements when I play there.
