Great Deal and a Great Walk!
Played here 2-3 times now. Always a great experience!
Nice track that desperately needs better maintenance
We played Pembroke Country Club on a Saturday morning in perfect weather, four days after the course got drenched with several inches of rain from the remnants of Hurricane Florence. Consequently, the course was very soft, which made it play longer, but allowed shots to hold the greens that normally might not have checked up.
We chose to play here after reading reviews that praised the course, and others that lambasted the poor condition of the course. In their own ways, both were accurate. Pembroke is a very nicely designed track, and while tree-lined throughout is very playable for the weekend golfer as underbrush has been cleared. The greens rolled true, but were a little inconsistent speed-wise. The rest of the course -- tees, fairways and everything in between -- is in desperate need of better upkeep. Lots of weeds, bare spots etc. that would repair themselves in short order if ownership chose to take care of the turf. It was a shame to see a course with a great layout so poorly cared for.
We will return to play it again when I read reviews that these issues have been addressed.
Such a shame
This course has the potential to be a hidden gem it is too bad that they have let it go it has a grreat layput and the potential to be premier course but don’t waste your time now they have let this courses go beyond bad it would take a year of closing it to bring it back to the gem it once was not the most friendly place grumpy old men is being too generous
Course keeps getting better
Over that past few years Pembroke CC has been constantly upgrading and improving the course. The conditions were great, pace of play drew no complaints and the staff were all very nice. Right up there with my favorite local eastern Mass courses.
Lots of water
Water right and left on several holes leading to very tight landing areas. Some very nice par 4s. Condition were good although it was cart path only when I played due to heavy rains (understandable). This is a course you would have to play several times to understand the layout of many of the holes. Very friendly an welcoming staff.
Very nice course
The course is in good shape. The rough is rough and the fairways and greens are very well kept. The staff is friendly and the food and drink are not expensive but very very good. I will go again
Very enjoyable
This course held my interest throughout. Plenty of trouble to be found but also enough room to recover. Lots of driving holes but also many requiring distance control to be prepared for the next shot. Very fun day even in drizzly weather.
Decent Course
Overall course was nice. Some very wet spots despite having no rain in the past few days. Good and varied terrain with some elevation and some well protected greens. Friendly and attentive staff.
One thing that I saw on this course that I had never seen before was a set of clocks every 4 to 5 holes telling you if you were ahead or behind expect pace of play. I like this, and I wish more courses would do this.
The only thing had issue with were the the greens were in pretty bad shape. They had been punch recently, had a lot of patchy growth, and not smooth and consistent. Balls bumped along couldn't hold a consistent line.
Aside form the poor greens, for $34 for 18 holes and a cart, the value was excellent.
good layout, up and coming after work
They are working slowly, but. surely to bring the course back to what it once was.
Biggest issue is the fact they added a set of tees between the men's and women's tees, HOWEVER they are only 80 or so yards longer than women's tees. They have the space to make a set of tees about 57-5800 yards. but they go basically 5300-5400-6000-6700.
Beautiful course
I reserved the tee time on Golf Now. Outstanding price for an outstanding course. I have played this course 3 times. All excellent experiences. This is a beautiful course and outstanding staff.
pace of play
Last time I played the pace was very slow. Not sure why other than the number of players on the course. This time it was much better. Everyone moved along at a good pace. I enjoyed my day much better. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Will play again
Fun course with good mix of challenges on each hole. Golf conditions were great, would love to see the decorative landscaping enhanced, would make this course one of the premier options south of the city. Staff is welcoming and fun.
Nice track, Good Pace of Play
Hadn’t played here in 10+ years. It’s in much better shape than I’d remembered. Really a nice track and an excellent value for the price paid. They are doing a great job here in terms of the course conditions (some tee boxes were being reseeded) and in maintaining a good pace of play (just under a 4-hour round in a Sunday afternoon in October). Recommended.
