Stow South at Stow Acres Country Club

What a fall from grace as this used to be a premier course in New England. They can’t even keep their practice green in OK shape. They are building a 2 decker driving range which is cutting off 250+ yds on par 5 10th hole on South course. North course is a 17-hole course. Course is terrible all around. I’d give fairways and tee boxes a 6/10 as the best parts. Greens I’ll give a 3/10 with several getting 0/10 (see pics of 2), bunkers are about - 4/10 and rough on average a 4/10 as well. Best hole was 18 for sure and I’d give the hole a 8+/10.

Most muni courses are maintained better and certainly a lot cheaper ($69 to walk today, Saturday). The only saving grace is the staff were very nice so 10/10 and drinks were cheap. $27 (incl 25% tip) for 4 Surfside vodka Iced tea/Lemonades. Most places charge $8+ each. I will not be going back any time soon. Most of the reviews I read were spot on, but o had a GC to use so did so. Made the most of it and still had a good time. Hoping that once they put the condos in, HOA fees can return it to its firmer glory. Until I hear that, I’ll play Butternut and elsewhere. I’d give it 1 star but friendly staff and cheap drinks brought up the “experience” score. The course itself was a 1 star.

Fairways are in good condition but greens need work.

Hope they spend some money fixing the greens and

not all of it on the new driving range.

Looking forward to the new Stowe South.

Not sure if they fired the entire maintenance department, but it sure looked like it. There was no grass on the greens, and fairways just don’t exist at this place anymore. $48 for 18 holes on a weekday is a fair price but not for this place.

This was my first time at this course and I was very disappointed with course condition and price. I played the north course and payed $75 to do so, the front nine was okay but the back nine was terrible, they were missing an entire hole and the 10th the green was so bad they punched a hole in the middle of fairway and stuck a flag in it, the 11th was like a field for a fairway and played out poorly, the rest of the greens weren't up to par and full of bumps, divots and they were all sanded. I couldn't make a stance on 17 n 18 without stepping in a pile of geese poop and the same with the green. So overall I was not happy with conditions and the price to play in those conditions. However I got a great deal on a new golf bag so that was a plus and again the staff was great!

They’re giving up on the north course. The fact that they are charging real American dollars to play this dog track should be a crime. Only 17 holes because they made one into frisbee golf, couldn’t even play 2 more because they were actively aerating and would not stop for play. Sprinklers running in the middle of the day. Temporary “greens” in fairways because the greens are burnt to death and under some sort of repair. I can’t stress it enough DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. South sucks too just go down the street to butternut.

North course is only 17 holes now and the greens are dreadful but they still charge full price.

The south course is still good for the price but I would avoid playing north course

A handful of the holes and greens are in good shape and then a handful of the holes are in pretty awful shape between tee boxes and greens. North course only has 17 holes as well with one hole out of order. Course has good bones but could use some TLC

The greens have been ruined by mold. Not sure how we were not told about this glaring issue prior to booking.

Greens and tee boxes were a little chewed up. Good track tho. Friendly staff.

Golf Shop Staff is rude - shown on multiple interactions with different people. Only the Starter was respectful to our group (all women).

We did see a Great Blue Heron and a massive Hawk’s nest with 3 large hawks 👍🏼

Course was good. There were no rangers on the course so pace of play was very slow and frustrating.

This course was beat up. The greens were patchy, the fairways were okay, the rough had a lot of bald spots. The north course is missing an entire hole that they tried to shorten? Just disappointed.

This is the worst course in this price range I have played in recent memory. Literal dirt patches on all the greens. Fairways are even worse. Found out when I got there the North Course only has 17 holes this year? 1 of which is a 200 yard par 4 from a dirt patch in the fairway hitting over a dirt mound from construction. I wouldn't pay $40 to play this place. Save yourself the time and frustration and play a real course.
