The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly…
First time out this year, got there an hour early to hit some balls into the nets only to find out they hadn’t been put up yet.. pace of play was very good for this course which can get very backed up.. some of the holes were very muddy, which made things tough, this course is very low-lying so if it rains within a week of your tee time, prepare for swampy conditions most likely.. overall it was ok..

Need the ranger to hurry people along. 10-15 mins per shot.

Haven’t been back.
Haven’t played Fern Hill this year. Played a few times last year and play took forever. The carts were dirty and in disrepair. One had a loose side handle and I almost fell out several times. Too slow even when it wasn’t that crowded. Don’t plan on going back, even if no other courses available. Did see some wildlife though.
Only played 10 holes, too slow
Had to leave after 10 holes because the course was so slow. Ranger refused to have the slow group move along. Great place to play if you want to play a 6+ hour round. Play at your own risk!
Great Staff, Great Course
This was my first time playing this course. It was great. Don't let the shorter length fool you. It isn't crazy hard, but it is a nice challenge. For so late in the season with so much rain this year the course was in really good shape. The greens rolled true and were fast, but not unjustly so. There are a variety of challenges that vary from hole to hole. so you don't get the feel that everything is closed in by trees, or that water is the same old hazard on every other hole. The staff was polite, and helpful. I will definitely be adding this course to my list for next year.

Two and half hours for 8 holes
Left after 8 holes 2 hours and 30 minutes waited 10-15 mins before every shot asked a employee if I could go ahead he said it was the same on every hole. Way overbooked course was just money grabbing.

Favorite for years...when it's dry !
A wonderful layout, fairways can be rock hard..George and staff always pleasant. Food is great, Very nice restaurant and bar.. always a great day when we go !

Poor
This golf course has no class and no proper business model, examples of this listed below:
1) third time I’ve booked a hot deal, only to go to the golf course and they are closed
2) the course was completely playable, yet with a spritz of rain last night they closed
3) the course holds no water, their inability to employ a drainage system costs them many thousands of $ per year being on the clinton River
4) when it rains, golf course looks like like Michigan for 4-7 days
5) I called the golf course today, an employee told me they were open, I said I’ll be there for my 1:20 tee time, only to arrive and their is a sign on the pro shop door saying golf course is closed
6) they do not employee a ranger monitoring for slow play
7) I live closest to this golf course and am an avid golfer, they lose hundreds of $ from me per year by me not playing, thousands on possible referrals to friends
8) because of their lack of a drainage system/watering system, the course is in horrendous condition
Needs rain
The fairways are rock hard. The grass and weeds are green but man the ground is hard. Maybe needs a little water.
