West at Warren Valley Golf Course

About
Warren Valley Golf Club in Dearborn boasts two 18-hole courses designed by Scottish architect Donald Ross. The courses are some of Ross' first designs in Michigan. The par-71 West and par-72 East Courses both have traditional layouts that sprawl across rolling hills before settling along the banks of the Rouge River. There are several scenic holes on both courses that play alongside and across the river. The West Course has tree-lined fairways but they are generous and the greens are open and inviting. Tricky doglegs are shaped by the trees or the river. The river comes into play more on this course than the East, on seven holes to be exact. The bunkering is minimal but there is a surprising variety of elevation changes that will keep you on your toes.

The course is coming along nicely in the last couple seasons. Still fixing a green or two but the bunkers are soft and sandy and the course has been well maintained including drainage being near Hines. Always a fun but challenging track
Not worth price.
After they completely renovated the course it was a decent place to play. The conditions of the course have now dropped off dramatically. Mover tire burn marks on the greens and fairways half the rough is crab grass. Pace of play is awful as they pack the course. Took over 2 hrs to get through 7 holes. Went straight to clubhouse asked for my money back. Won’t be going back. Not the first time this has happened.
Too much time and money
Place is always stacked with foursomes and mixed level of players. I would say I have played way better courses for the money. Greens are okay just filled with un repaired divots. Hole 3 green still has cart tracks! Some fairways play like rough. Sand traps are meh.
Needs work on some fairways!
This course would be really interesting if the fairways were in better condition. The greens are improved and there are plenty of ball washers but the towels are 30-40 years old. The only restroom (after the second hole needs cleaning and some work inside) The sand bunkers are also an improvement. With some work could be a fine Donald Ross layout.
Do not recommend
Paid $48 for 18 I wouldn’t pay more than $35 for this course some holes reward you for hitting fairways by being 50-70yards of just dirt no grass at all. Hole 18 to be exact. Pace of play was horrible it took me almost 6 hours to finish 18 we had groups in front of us backed up every other hole for 10 minutes each , had a group behind us hitting onto us 3 times almost hitting me so I told the ranger and he said he talked to them but hit onto us 2 more times after that and was yelling at us to hurry up when we are gettin held up by other groups. Overall bad time golfing here I would not bring anyone I know to this course ever again or will I ever be back .
What a transformation!
Course is in really good shape. Can't believe this is the same course I played a few years ago. Super is doing a good job .
This course has great potential
This course has great potential to become an amazing Donald Ross course. Greens are pure but the fairways and rough need some work. Holes 10, 11,12 encapsulate what this course can be! Hopefully the owners sink some more money into renovations and turn this course into what it can be!
