West at Warren Valley Golf Course

About
Warren Valley Golf Club in Dearborn boasts two 18-hole courses designed by Scottish architect Donald Ross. The courses are some of Ross' first designs in Michigan. The par-71 West and par-72 East Courses both have traditional layouts that sprawl across rolling hills before settling along the banks of the Rouge River. There are several scenic holes on both courses that play alongside and across the river. The West Course has tree-lined fairways but they are generous and the greens are open and inviting. Tricky doglegs are shaped by the trees or the river. The river comes into play more on this course than the East, on seven holes to be exact. The bunkering is minimal but there is a surprising variety of elevation changes that will keep you on your toes.

great course for the price
Would return to play this course! Great value for the money not very long but don't let that fool you into thinking that it is easy, a shotmakers course, small greens, and DO NOT miss the fairway the rough isn't extremely long but dense and punishing, the ball really likes to sit down in it. Most holes require an accurate tee shot so clubbing down to be in the short grass and away from the trees to have a shot at the green should be considered! Will be a long day for those who spray the ball. The Donald Ross greens have subtle breaks that are tough to read, pay attention to the landscape. Greens however are a bit slow but I did play early in the season and in the morning. A lot of elevation changes making club selection difficult at times and setting up some awkward lies. The one negative i have was the sand in the bunkers was like cement better off trying to pick it than blast it. But, overall very enjoyable.
Its a fun course.
This course has a great track. There are pars threes that are up hill down and down hill which are always fun. Par 4's with elevated tee shots and some doglegs too. Its just a fun course. First review ever so it must have triggered something for me to write this review.
All around great
Everything a golf course should be.
Super fun to play.
Some great holes that offer a fun challenge.
Update that Donald Ross design.
This course is a little over priced. Good value if you can use one of the Golfnow specials. No frills, public course, wide open, not very difficult. Low handicappers won't find it very challenging, even from the blue tees. Higher handicaps will like the forgiving, wide open fairways. Very few tight holes, a few forced carries, many par 5's reachable in 2. Some reachable par 4's. Greens on the small side and a little slow. It does get a lot of play, and could use a little help. This 36 hole layout has potential, through better maintenance and a few design changes, to be so much more... Staff is cordial, not much of a pro shop at all (hello management, plenty of room, you are missing out on profit potential here!). Putting, chipping green, no range. Decent bar with irregular food availability and menu. Banquet facilities are good.
Wide open fairways that allow for errant shots not to cost you golf balls
Two courses and both are very nice. Staff is awesome especially th manager and daytime counter guy. Beautiful club house area for banquets and good food.
I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an affordable round.
