The Captains Club Golf & Event Center
About
Located just 15 minutes from Flint, The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is one of the area's most popular public courses and it was even voted Grand Blanc's best golf course. Known as much for the challenging layout as it is for the affordable rates. The spacious layout offers plenty of room with wide-open fairways, none of which run parallel to one another. Dense stands of mature trees enclose most of the holes, making them feel even more peacefully secluded. Towering trees loom above the narrow fairways and they also surround the large, undulating greens. Water also has a prominent presence on the golf course. A series of waterways weave through the holes, almost completely surrounding some of the greens. The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is a course that will test your iron skills, but there aren't many opportunities for driving.

Solid course
No complaints. Course is great for the price. (Hot deal). Conditions are so-so but great for what you pay by comparison.
Pace of play
The course itself is beautiful. It is very challenging if you play it from the back two tees. However what looked like a promising round turned into the longest round I’ve ever played in my life. There were zero rangers to be found anywhere on the course to ensure the pace of play was kept. The worst part was that the course was not very populated. It was simply one or two foursomes causing everybody to back up. I probably will not be back here again even though it is quite a fun and challenging course.
Fun layout
Greens and fairways were in great shape. Bunkers were well maintained. Hole 5 was very wet where you lay up . Always enjoy playing here because you have to play so many different shots .
Great layout
If you want a wide open course where no ball gets lost and you can see the pin from every tee box, this is not the course for you. If you want to play a course where you have to consider your shot selection and pay attention to the course map, this course is for you.
Course is Great! Pace of play was not
Course was great. Grip and rip holes mixed in with placement golf. Course was in pretty good shape. Pace of play was atrocious. Zero enforcement to speed up play. Golf shouldn’t take 5.5-6 hours for 18 holes.
Great price!
This course is a great value for the money. The hot deal that was offered was too good to pass up!
Lovely greens! Our foursome will be back for some more summer enjoyment.
Fun Day
Course was in great shape with all the rain we have had this year. Enjoyable round. Course is challenging, need to trust distances as there are many landing areas.
I've been playing here for years but......
Love the course but on this day the course had standing water in the fairways and pools in the traps. Groundskeeper was mowing and leaving mounds of grass throughout the fairways. So bad that you could lose a ball on a perfect shot. Mowing while approaching the 10th green and he wouldn't yield to the paying customer. We waited from 200 out for 7 minutes while he mowed around the green. Tee boxes backed up due to 1 slow playing foursome. This may be the last time playing here for me.
Best round
Played great, the course was flooded from a storm the night before but overall still a nice experience!
Captain of the Greens
I was very press with the course.. we have experiencing so much rain in the last month. The greens were very well maintain. Can’t wait to go back.
Great course in Grand Blanc
Course was well maintained, and good shots were rewarded.
Extremely challenging course layout.
I give this course a five star rating on all categories except course conditions. Here in Michigan she have had an unusual amount of rain and some snow storms this spring. With that said you have got to play this course if you get the opportunity. The Captains Club layout is challenging mentally as well as physically. You’re forced to use most of the clubs in your bag to get around the course itself. The course has an “Up North” feeling to it. Watch out for the deer watching you as you make your way to the next hole. The pro shop staff are friendly and helpful. After my round I sat down in the bar/ lounge and enjoyed a meal and a beer. I’ll definitely be back to play this course again.
Fun course, just needs some love
This course is exciting to play because you can make it as challenging as you want. Play the whites if you want an easy-going round... play the blues if you want a challenge and play the tips if you're loco.
I'm looking forward to seeing this course returned to its full potential.
Conditions
The pace of play is amazingly slow. The golf range is closed numerous times mainly due to bad drainage. It is just over priced for the frustration at that course.
