The Captains Club Golf & Event Center
About
Located just 15 minutes from Flint, The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is one of the area's most popular public courses and it was even voted Grand Blanc's best golf course. Known as much for the challenging layout as it is for the affordable rates. The spacious layout offers plenty of room with wide-open fairways, none of which run parallel to one another. Dense stands of mature trees enclose most of the holes, making them feel even more peacefully secluded. Towering trees loom above the narrow fairways and they also surround the large, undulating greens. Water also has a prominent presence on the golf course. A series of waterways weave through the holes, almost completely surrounding some of the greens. The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is a course that will test your iron skills, but there aren't many opportunities for driving.

Golfer Reviews
Course poorly managed and designed
Took 5 hrs 6 min to play!! Was paired with another couple which included a 96 year old grandma and we even had to wait. No ranger. Crammed to many onto course. Course itself was in nice shape other than cart paths. Greens were best part with many breaks and reasonably fast. Cart paths were worn asphalt with pot holes. Course layout felt shoe horned into residential area. Many blind tee shots. Multiple par 5's that you had to drive to landing area, then 2nd landing area then onto green. Poorly maintained growth in areas you had to play over making landing areas blind due to high growth. #14 a 200 yard par 3 (blue tees) all carry over marsh you could not see green as they let bushes/shrubs grow to 10+feet leaving only right of green visible. Restaurant food was good. Do not see myself ever returning nor recommending this course to anyone.
Just ok if you don’t mind taking over 6 hours to play a round of golf.
I booked it through Golfnow. I had promo codes which made it free. However the pace of play was the slowest I’ve ever had to deal with in the last 26 years. It took 2 hours just to play 6 holes. I couldn’t take it anymore and left. Not worth it (and this was a FREE round).
Parts of the course also smelled like human waste. You can tell that they don’t have the capital to keep this place in order. It’s definitely deteriorating.
Find someplace else to play!
Enjoyable round of golf
The course played well and each hole is unique which keeps it interesting. The greens were challenging and smooth. The staff were very friendly. Always a treat to play!
Solid course
No complaints. Course is great for the price. (Hot deal). Conditions are so-so but great for what you pay by comparison.
Pace of play
The course itself is beautiful. It is very challenging if you play it from the back two tees. However what looked like a promising round turned into the longest round I’ve ever played in my life. There were zero rangers to be found anywhere on the course to ensure the pace of play was kept. The worst part was that the course was not very populated. It was simply one or two foursomes causing everybody to back up. I probably will not be back here again even though it is quite a fun and challenging course.
Fun layout
Greens and fairways were in great shape. Bunkers were well maintained. Hole 5 was very wet where you lay up . Always enjoy playing here because you have to play so many different shots .
Great layout
If you want a wide open course where no ball gets lost and you can see the pin from every tee box, this is not the course for you. If you want to play a course where you have to consider your shot selection and pay attention to the course map, this course is for you.
Course is Great! Pace of play was not
Course was great. Grip and rip holes mixed in with placement golf. Course was in pretty good shape. Pace of play was atrocious. Zero enforcement to speed up play. Golf shouldn’t take 5.5-6 hours for 18 holes.
Great price!
This course is a great value for the money. The hot deal that was offered was too good to pass up!
Lovely greens! Our foursome will be back for some more summer enjoyment.
Fun Day
Course was in great shape with all the rain we have had this year. Enjoyable round. Course is challenging, need to trust distances as there are many landing areas.
I've been playing here for years but......
Love the course but on this day the course had standing water in the fairways and pools in the traps. Groundskeeper was mowing and leaving mounds of grass throughout the fairways. So bad that you could lose a ball on a perfect shot. Mowing while approaching the 10th green and he wouldn't yield to the paying customer. We waited from 200 out for 7 minutes while he mowed around the green. Tee boxes backed up due to 1 slow playing foursome. This may be the last time playing here for me.
Best round
Played great, the course was flooded from a storm the night before but overall still a nice experience!
