The Captains Club Golf & Event Center
About
Located just 15 minutes from Flint, The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is one of the area's most popular public courses and it was even voted Grand Blanc's best golf course. Known as much for the challenging layout as it is for the affordable rates. The spacious layout offers plenty of room with wide-open fairways, none of which run parallel to one another. Dense stands of mature trees enclose most of the holes, making them feel even more peacefully secluded. Towering trees loom above the narrow fairways and they also surround the large, undulating greens. Water also has a prominent presence on the golf course. A series of waterways weave through the holes, almost completely surrounding some of the greens. The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is a course that will test your iron skills, but there aren't many opportunities for driving.

Beautiful Club House and Course
Very nice coure and friendly staff. Condition of the course was very good.
professor
the green is too slow for the lack of mowing short.
Intermediate Golfer
Nicely kept course with challenging greens that reads long.
Very nice track
Would play again. Greens are "grainy"...hit the put firm. Layout nice.
Excellent course
Course is in great condition. Greens are fast and true. Pace of play is always great, except for the groups that get backed up on the 11th teebox (short, tricky par 4). Once that hole clears up, you'll never see anybody again. Coming from a resident in Macomb County, this course blows away all of my local medium-level courses. The Genesee area has some great courses at very reasonable prices and this is definitely up there.
Captains Club
For 1st time golfers to this course, you better play with someone that is quite familiar with the course. This course is really not for high handicappers because of it's complexity. There are lots of blind shots and drives. Experience on this course would help with course management. A Skycaddie would have helped because distances are deceiving and it would give you a good layout of the hole and hazards you are playing. This is definitely a ridding course. Information Flip Cards on the carts would be of great help.
downward spiral
This course has some good holes on it but the overall conditions seem to be going downhill , I've played this course occasionally since it opened and it seems to have never gotten better. The cart paths are crumbling, you've got twosomes and singles all over the course, the play is getting slower and the day I was there they're were kids with lemonade stands on two holes.
Pin placement
Fairways were perfect, greens fast and the pins were tucked in the corners. Pin placement on this course can make it easy or very difficult. Greens are odd shaped and traps make going for the pins tough. A few lay up holes and doglegs, mostly a challenging fun club. Need to find a way to fix ball marks. I fixed hundreds. Otherwise fun course, dont play the blacks unless you can play......
This course is a good test of skills
A fair but challenging course. A good mix of open holes where you can score with long, tight holes that can hurt your score. Greens are challenging with multiple tiers, but also were a bit chewed up.
watch your putting!
I played this back in 1999, and swore I wouldn't come back - the course was in horrible condition. I was told by my brother to retry it and we did and I am so glad I followed his advice. It is gorgeous. Very tricky, lots of lay ups, the greens were spectacular but very difficult - lots and lots of undulations and absolutely huge. OMG - stay out of the rough! I would definitely play it again, now that I know the nuances and where to lay up and where to go for it.
Great condition, great price
I have played this course numerous times throughout te years and believe that 2014 maybe one of the best yet. The fairways are in perfect condition with but only a few low lying wet areas, the greens are disease free running true and fast (a tad faster would be nice), and for the first time in years the bunkers are playing well (better sand, better dispersion of sand in bunkers and bunkers actually being raked and turned).
Very challenging layout from the tips, with several thinking golf holes that requireless than a mashed driver. You certainly use every club in your bag.
Staff was very friendly. Pace of play was sufficient. 3:50 with two foursomes in front. No complaints to register at all.
You cant get a better bang for your buck. $22 for 18/cart .
Great course with a few exceptions.
Course was in great shape and has a "Up North" feel to it. Has some huge UNDULATING greens, so it helps to have played it before to aim for the correct side of the flag. Has a lot of hidden trouble so you need to be careful and check the layout of the hole or consult your GPS often (not my favorite way to play golf). Only have 2 exceptions: The par 5's are a little gimmicky, quick doglegs and long carrys where it takes the driver out if your hands or you have to "work" the ball (we're amateurs)., and the cart paths need a lot of work, there are smaller potholes on I-75..not good for the back!
Awesome!
We had a great time.
The course was in great condition, price was great and we really enjoyed ourselves!
Very nice layout...don't miss
Placement is a must. Not a lot of opportunity to miss, tree and water lined fairways...really nice.
Greens in great shape
Greens in good shape for early season golf and especially with all the rain.
Great course. Not the best patrons.
The course itself and the staff was spectacular. The only problem is that the golfers don't replace or fix divots. If we're to golf nice courses we need to do our part to keep the course nice.
Nice change of venue
I haven't played here in years due to the old condition of the course. They have certainly improved the course conditions. It was in pretty good shape for this early in the season with the winter we had. Only negative I have for them is they need more vertical yardage markers on the fairways.
Pretty nice course
The Captians Club is a course worth playing if you get a decent deal. We play there once in a while. The day we played it was pretty wet & quite a few leaves but we got a good deal & it was a pretty day so we enjoyed it.
