The Captains Club Golf & Event Center
About
Located just 15 minutes from Flint, The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is one of the area's most popular public courses and it was even voted Grand Blanc's best golf course. Known as much for the challenging layout as it is for the affordable rates. The spacious layout offers plenty of room with wide-open fairways, none of which run parallel to one another. Dense stands of mature trees enclose most of the holes, making them feel even more peacefully secluded. Towering trees loom above the narrow fairways and they also surround the large, undulating greens. Water also has a prominent presence on the golf course. A series of waterways weave through the holes, almost completely surrounding some of the greens. The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is a course that will test your iron skills, but there aren't many opportunities for driving.

Golfer Reviews
Awesome!
We had a great time.
The course was in great condition, price was great and we really enjoyed ourselves!
Greens in great shape
Greens in good shape for early season golf and especially with all the rain.
Great course. Not the best patrons.
The course itself and the staff was spectacular. The only problem is that the golfers don't replace or fix divots. If we're to golf nice courses we need to do our part to keep the course nice.
Nice change of venue
I haven't played here in years due to the old condition of the course. They have certainly improved the course conditions. It was in pretty good shape for this early in the season with the winter we had. Only negative I have for them is they need more vertical yardage markers on the fairways.
Pretty nice course
The Captians Club is a course worth playing if you get a decent deal. We play there once in a while. The day we played it was pretty wet & quite a few leaves but we got a good deal & it was a pretty day so we enjoyed it.
Nice round on crisp autum day
Course was in nice condition with greens having been aerated in last week or so. Greens rolled fast but, true. Thanks golfnow for another great golf value.
Great value
This course is one of the nicest courses in the area. Very well maintained and challenging. There is wide fairways and undulating greens.
greens maintained
Pace of play was terrible, complained to rangers with no outcome. 51/2 hrs for 18 holes.
The card path is in very bad shape.
It is a very challenging course. Needs a lot of repair.
Greens were beat up!
We got behind a slowsome, had three young kids hitting into us all day. No rangers in sight through the whole 18 holes and the refreshment cart was invisible as well. All the par 3's were shortened up to <120 yards for the white tees, not much of a test of golf. The ball marks and overall condition of the greens made it impossible to roll a true putt.
Hard course if you don't hit it straight.
Course was in great shape. I was alone and the starter let me start off the back 9 and the round went great. You would not want to walk this course.
Overall, this course was pretty good
Friendly staff, and the course was in decent shape. The greens rolled well and were fast. My only complaint would be there are a lot of holes that are "target golf" which can be a struggle for my game, but overall it is a pretty solid track.
TERRIBLE
I rarely take the time to condemn a person or place but Captains Club is a complete mess. The combination of the deplorable condition of the motorized carts and of the cart paths on this "semi private" course, made My experience excruciating. I have to mention the asphalt cart path on number nine hole that dips with no warning. The cart I was in had a horrible suspension and the cart bottomed out and My lower back was jammed. I went into the clubhouse to notify them of this hazardous condition and I Am shocked that no one would have had this condition rectified.
A bargain for this nice course.
Nice people, nice golf course, nice restaurant. What else do you need?
Good back 9
This is a course that runs throughout the Woodfield subdivision, with several long rides to the next tee. It has lots of water and several tight fairways. Poor landing areas on many. High handicappers be prepared to lose a few balls. The only information for the holes is the score card map which is very small and is inaccurate. It showed water to the left on hole three, but not directly in front of the green, and you guessed it, I found it. Hole 7 is a poorly designed par 5, that mandates a middle iron off the tee. Some fairways and greens were in rough shape. Drainage issues. No problems with pace. Overall a decent course, the back 9 an improvement from the front. I will play here again, but probably only on a Golf Now special.
The course is in much better condition than early in this season(2013)
Always challenging and great day of golf fun. Course plays much better than early in this season.
Nice course
Nice course with challenging shots. Greens in good shape and run true. Play was very slow over 5 hours for 18.
Private conditions offered on a public course
The course is in great shape, wildlife on near every hole.
Normally play from black, played with a senior and from the whites this time.
Found hazards that don't come into play from the black tees.
Lunch at the turn is the best I've had at any course.
