Faulkwood Shores Golf Course
About
Faulkwood Shores Golf Club first opened in 1971, exactly a century after the historic farmhouse that serves as the clubhouse was built. Located in Howell, it's considered one of southeastern Michigan's best values. The golf course has a traditional layout that is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels but there are some challenging hole designs that will appeal to those that are more advanced. Water hazards come into play on eight holes throughout the golf course, including a stream that runs alongside the first hole. The fairways are tight and the greens are fast and well guarded by bunkers. There are also a few subtle undulations that can be tricky to maneuver. Faulkwood Shores Golf Club requires accuracy but it's not overly punishing if you're slightly errant.

Nice Course
The course was in good shape great price! The staff was not friendly at all, it was like we were a bother. Would probably go there again.
Super Course
This may be the best value in the area. Good golfers will be tested on some holes. Lot of variety. Super friendly staff.
Great value
For the money, this course is an excellent value. I'd play it from the tips next time as it plays a bit shorter than anticipated. Par 3's are all longish and the 5's are reachable. Don't expect pristine when paying under $20 and you'll have a good time.
Challenging greens
Holes like number seven and three will have you shacking your head if you should land above or to the side of the hole. A lot of fun to play.
This course has a definite feel unlike many courses I've played. Uniquely challenging.
I loved the sloping greens on the front nine and lengthy challenges the back nine presented. Overall, one of the most uniquely challenging courses I've ever played. Fun and fair.
Can't Go Wrong
The course was in good shape, and the greens weren't too fast. Fast greens, in particular on the front side, could make your blood pressure rise to unsafe levels! :)
The course features long par 3's and "reachable" par 5's.
There may not be a better golf value around!
Great course for a hot deal
Great course to play for what we saw. Started on #10 with a huge wait. Tee time was highly inaccurate. Delay due to crowd was at least 40 min. Took 3 hours to play 9 holes so we left after the first nine.
great course for the money
Great course for the money plays fast but challenging.
I play here all the time golf now has great rates for this course
Great course for the money, could use a ranger or two
This was the second time playing this course. The course is well maintained and challenging enough for a novice golfer like myself, but was still fun for the guy I was playing with, who was an experienced (prior high school golf coach) player. We got stormed out of the second nine and they issued a rain check with no problem. My only issue was the rate of play. I would have liked to see a ranger or two. The foursome in front of us were going very slowly and were holding up my group (a twosome), a single and a foursome. There were 2 open holes in front of them, but they would not allow anybody to play through. If there had been a ranger to have them either speed up or let us play through, we probably would have been able to finish our round before the storm! I will definitely come back though
Fun and Challenging
This can be a very difficult course at times. I play it 3 times a week and really like the course. The hotdogs are amazing as well! If you go to Faulkwood Shores, you must try the hotdogs.
Very friendly, welcoming staff.
Course is nicely maintained, tee to green. You can save a few strokes if you have a chainsaw in your bag.
FAULKWOOD SHORES-A GREAT VENUE WITH GREAT RATES
FAULKWOOD SHORES IS A "DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH." I MEAN THAT THE GREEN FEE AND THE CART RENTAL ARE BOTH EXTREMELY EASY ON YOUR WALLET!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT EVERY ONE GIVES IT A TRY. I THINK YOU WILL ENJOY IT TOO. R.A.LIVONIA, MI
Beginner Course
This course is a good one for beginners; however is very challenging with strict par four dog legs and very long par three holes. Hole 4 has a cumbersome tree that shades the front half of the green. A great tee shot only means a terrible tree bounce. Tight fairways play trouble for some shots; however, second shots can often correct the worst of drives. Staff very friendly; however, tee times only lined up seven minutes apart for foursome, which often gives delays at the tee box.
Great value for the money!
You really cannot beat the prices at Faulkwood Shores and the staff is always helpful and appreciate each customer.
Great Value for the money!
Great Value. Par 5's are short. Par 4's are pretty long. A few greens are sloped severely and punish you if you are above the hole.
Decent for the price
First time out this year on a chilly, blustery afternoon. Only paid $13 per person. Good layout, but in need of some TLC. Was once one of the better public courses in the region. Staff was very accomodating when one player was forced to be late and another decided not to play due to the weather. We were given a rain check, which really wasn't necessary.
Challenging
Some of the greens are beyond challenging, especially with the pin placements.
Outdated golf carts and facility
The best thing about the course was that the greens were challenging but other than that the golf carts were terrible to drive, the club house was very outdated. The course itself had terrible fairways, the hole description on each hole was damaged or missing, the scorecard didn't help us at all by not giving a actual description of the hole placement. I don't think there was a ranger because we had to wait at each hole to tee of because no one was making sure people weren't messing around and taking to long. Overall I wouldn't waste my money again on this course.
Good bang for your buck.
Usually courses this cheap are also pretty short, but Faulkwood Shores is actually quite long. Most par 4's are in the 400 yd range from the whites, so you'll get plenty of chances to bust out the driver. The course is not is great shape, but it's not terrible either. The layout is a little odd at times. On number 1, right off the bat, you can only hit a long iron or short fairway wood off the tee. Course knowledge helps. The greens are faster than you think. Not terribly punishing, but not wide open either. Not my favorite course, but a good deal for a usually cheap price.
