Salem Hills, front 9 then back 9
Excellent pace of play, our foursome kept up with the twosome in front of us, teed of at 1240p, finished by 420p.
Course had some dry parts where the ball rolled and rolled, but the greens were green, soft and true.
The course was very nice and open fairways so it's a good place to practice your woods and drivers. I would definitely play the course again for the price I got it for on golfnow!
This is a very nice course.
Salem Hills is a nice layout with well maintained tee boxes, fairways and greens. There is some room for missing fairways on many holes, however, the trees will present a challenge for an easy recovery. The course is in a secluded location so it's quite peaceful. We played on a Sunday afternoon in exactly 4 hours. The staff was friendly and the pro shop is handling the pandemic with sufficient caution.
Great layout, with room for error off the tee, large, challenging greens that are in great shape and roll very well.
7/5/2020
Hot muggy day. Course was in good shape. We'll go back.
Needs maintenance!
Throughout the years I’ve played Salem Hills and it was for the most part maintained very well. Yesterday(6-11-2020) was by far the worst conditions ever. If you like playing in rough two feet tall with “hay” strewing mis-hits and losing balls that should be found, you’d love this course. Like a “major” rough wise. Hopefully, maintenance will improve this summer!
Challenging but rewarding golf course
Great day spent at Salem Hills! They really reward you for being accurate off the tee. They are starting to let some heather/tall grass grow past the rough so if you spray the ball, good luck finding it. Greens rolled very well and was well worth the $37. Looking forward to going back
Slow and Confusing
The payment process was a bit strange. Had to call my credit card in while at the course, no big deal. We were partnered with people not from out household. Why have staggered tee times and then put me in a group with strangers? Then, again, like the last few times we were there, the pace was terrible. 2.5 hrs on the front, had to bail after waiting 25 minutes on 12 for one group of four and one group of 8. Doesn’t seem to matter what is going on, pace is slow. Course was good, staff fine. As long as I am not expecting to be anywhere after my round, no big deal.
Pleasantly Surprised
I moved to the area this year and drive by this place on my way home everyday. Finally got around to playing it early one morning with my Dad and Uncle. Was great value for the money, the workers inside were nice, grass tees on the range always a plus. Would def recommend.
Bring your putter
Salem Hills is a challenging course fairway game To undulating greens. The speed of the greens are excellent and controlling the putter is the key to playing around under 80. The course is very enjoyable to play and look forward to its challenges every time I play it.
first time
played from the white tees... the greens were guarded on each hole with strategically placed bunkers.... the greens were great to putt on and ran at a good pace... on the # 1 HDC hole you do need a good tee shot to have a shot at the green as it is a severe dog leg right … the course was a little soggy in places but this was due to all the rain we've been getting lately ….very nice course
