Myth Golf & Banquet - Regulation Course
About
The Myth Golf & Banquet, formerly known as Beaver Creek, tumbles across rolling hills. Situated next to Lake Orion, the golf course sits on protected land that is home to an abundance of wildlife, including sandhill cranes. There is both an 18-hole championship course and a nine-hole par-3 course. In 2007, when the Myth was established, several improvements were made to the championship layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The scenic golf course features boardwalk cart paths that cut through beautiful pine forests. Don't get too distracted by the scenery though because there is plenty to keep you busy including multi-tiered greens and water hazards on almost every hole. The 13th is the golf course's signature hole. This par 3 plays from an elevated tee over water to a generous green, offering a great opportunity for a birdie.

Hole 13, fun par 3 Photo submitted by Tait2dn on 05/09/2013
Target golf
Always bring extra balls. You have to keep it in the tight fairways or its gone. Overall the course is in good shape.
Rough
Went Sunday and made the turn around 11:30 and there was no hot dogs or anything but love the course, very challenging
Nice course but it's difficult to get around.
A very nice facility. Friendly staff. Hole are connect by several wood boardwalks that are in dire need of repair!
Challenging & Scenic
The greens are awesome with many undulations, Par3 are long, Par 5's are challenging. Some par 4s are long 400 plus yards. Every hole has water or swamp to deal with from tee to green. One needs to play with strategy. The cart paths are wooden platform, rattling, but didn't bother me as the course fairways and greens are well maintained. This is a great course
The Myth
Played the course about the same time last year. Better shape this time but still needs TLC. Tee boxes are horrible...weeds, mud, uneven. Every ball cleaner smelled like rotten eggs. Some interesting holes but some are rather gimmicky. Not terribly long but you do get the opportunity to play most of your clubs. I agree with a few of the previous reviewers...the yardages on some of the holes don't sync up with map, card, signs. The greens are the most challenging aspect of the course (aside from bouncing up and down riding the "charming" wooden cart paths), good condition but the pin placements the day I played were impossible. I'm a good putter but was punished numerous times for good approach shots with 2 and 3 putts...one 4 because of pin placements and putts barely tapped rolling off the green. The GC must have thought it was Sunday at Augusta. The mark of a good course is playability for all handicaps, challenging but fair if you hit good shots and putt better than a beginner, and making you think, not scratching your head. The Myth has potential but hardly "nothing short of spectacular" as their webpage claims. I would play again and recommend but only at a "real Hot Deal" price.
narrow fairways, super tuff pin placement, very fast greens
Unless you hit every shot straight bring extra balls. The greens are very tuff to judge and the pin placements were as about as difficult as they could be. Normally course plays faster but there was a big outing in front of me which I knew before hand and new I was going to have a long round. Burgers were awesome and reasonably priced and the staff was good.
This course wes very challenging.
The course needed to be updated and better maintained. I had not played in over 10 years and was much better in the past. The current owners have ran the course down and is obviously not putting any money into the course.
bang for your buck!
Definitely a good value for $30! Reminds me a bit of a city course. Some holes seemed to barely fit in, some wasted space in terms of tee boxes. Tee boxes were rough! A bit muddy and grass was too long on the tee box.
The Myth
The Myth is a good course but not excellent. However, average players love this course.
Rough shape
The tee boxes were the worst I have seen there in a long time. You could not get a even stance off tee boxes and the pins were in impossible positions almost comical not unlike a putt putt course.
challenging course.
Narrow fairways and sloping greens make it a challenging course. Still a fun round of golf. Good mix of par 3s, 4s and a few 5s. Definitely get to use your driver a lot on this course. Only complaint would be that the yardage on the score card did not match up with the yardage marked on the signs at the tee boxes.
Great Course, bad trails
The course was in very good conditions based on the dry weather of the past few weeks. They need to replace their wooden pathways to make it great, but for the price, Excellent
Needs some work
Tight course with too many blind shots. Yardages from tees are not accurate. One blind shot the gray tee was moved 125 yards forward on a dog leg blind shot. Yardage showed the tee to green was 277 yds. It was actually 150. It was our 1st time playing the course. I played a driver and was 75 yards too long and a lost ball.
surprises on every hole
Conditions where very good. Better course map would help. Greens are a challenge
Good course great value
For the price I paid I was very happy. That was the best value i have encountered in this area.
A fun course
I play this course often, the woods make most tee shots challenging. You don't want to spray the ball off the tee box.
It took 4.5 hours to play 12 holes....
It took 4.5 hours to play 12 holes....and then we decided to walk out. And we were just 2 players.
I have played this course before but this time something was majorly wrong. Not sure if it was the scheduling by the staff or what.
On hole no. 3 had to wait for 35 minutes to tee off.
Marshalls were seen all around but none of these kids helped in increasing the pace of play.
Total waste of time and money on this round.
Fun but tough course
Front nine isn't too bad but the back nine - the last 7 in particular - are very tough...bring extra balls and put the driver away. Greens in pretty good condition although as with most public courses, ball marks are not repaired. A lot of swampy trees and wood cart paths but the rickety cart paths add to the charm of the course. Handicapped seniors should avoid as some tee boxes involve unstable stairs.
Good value
Played 18 with a cart for $28, which is a good rate for the area. The course is in descent condition. The green on #13 desperately needs to be raised. It's a great par 3 protected by water all along the front, but the green is just about at water level and is very water logged. The wood bridges that run between most holes also need to be replaced. They are terribly warped and look on the berg of collapse. The rest of the course is in good condition. It's a challenging course with a good layout.
