Dunmaglas Golf Course

Interesting golf course, Played yesterday for the first time, Conditions were below average for a public course, The greens were very slow but challenging. The course winds through the mountains, there are some very tough holes, Overall trying to understand how this is rated as a top 25 in the US?? Very misleading.

Golf carts are gas and at least 30 years old.

I would not recommend this course as there are many other public courses in the area that have much better conditions and less expensive,

I am a regular CC golfer living in Southwest Florida,

...we expected something much different for $119. After checking in at the pro shop that was dark and sparsely stocked, we loaded up our clubs on gas-powered carts that probably debuted with the course back in the '90s. We took our bucket of range balls over to the range where we hit off a shaggy tee area out into an unmarked grass lot that was maybe 175 yds deep. To our right were on-property condos that could only be described as "sad". Heading up to the first tee, the box wasn't much better than the range, which was the case throughout the course. Fairways and first cut were abundant in clover and crab grass. Plenty of elevation changes through the routing, which presented challenges for our cart, requiring us to "Fred Flintstone" a couple times, and another time to flat out push it up a hill. Greens looked great but were very soft, with balls plugging on the par three holes. No services available on the course, and you aren't routed by the pro shop, so we had to make do with the water bottles we brought. At the eighteenth green we were greeted by the condos, which were just as sad and empty-looking from the back as they were from the front.

I don't mind paying over $100 for a round, but when I do I expect far better services, facilities, and course conditions than I got here. I can get great vistas and better golf at a lot of other courses in/around Charlevoix/Petoskey/HS. Won't be coming back and I encourage others to keep looking before settling for this course.

I deceivingly difficult course, but extremely interesting and wonderful

The course was in average condition but still a decent value. Lots of elevation changes. Some spectacular views on a couple holes. Played Belvedere the day before where the fairways and greens were in much better shape. Still enjoyed our round and the staff was very friendly.

The employees are outstanding….the remainder is in the owner, who clearly has paid zero attention to his property…really sad….

Nice Views and the Course was in Great Shape! Cart Girls off on Monday and No concessions on the turn. Fairways and Greens are in Great Shape!

Very nice course layout! Love the elevation changes and hilltop tee boxes with long carries! Would love to come back and play in October for fall color!

On a perfect warm Wednesday morning we had the course to ourselves. Large elevation changes and another Northern Michigan course that you have to play several times to know where you're going and how the ball will bound and react in several areas. Course was in decent shape....the greens weren't as slick as my previous play several years ago....and I've played Dumaglas at least 10 times. There are some really beautiful views and several holes I really enjoy playing time and after time. The course doesn't come back after the 9th so provision up for the day. Pleased that the course is still open and wish they got more play.....but then they want $91 during the week. If they reduced their greens fee to a say weekday $60 or $65 I bet they'd at least get twice the play or more. Some greens had diseased areas which could come into play. There are some very tricked up parts about Dunmaglas but I still recommend it. Try to play it with someone who's got some local knowledge. You'll still want to come back to attempt several of the shot making challenges this course presents. Some tee boxes need renovation. Folks in the clubhouse are incredibly friendly and want you to enjoy your experience. Got around in slightly over 3 hours. Great course in beautiful surroundings and views. Course was in great condition. I think it's a hidden gem
