Bruce Hills Golf Club
About
Bruce Hills Golf Course is located in the north metro Detroit area near Romeo. Mature trees are scattered throughout the course, providing shade and a peacefully secluded feel. The par-70 layout is relatively short at only 5,630 yards form the back tees, making it an ideal round for beginners but it still provides good practice and a quick round for more advanced players. The golf course sprawls across a diverse terrain that allows for downhill and uphill approaches to the small, round greens, which are often sloped from back to front. Keeping the ball below the hole is the key to scoring well on this golf course. Bruce Hills' player-friendly layout only has four bunkers but water comes into play on 12 holes, providing the bulk of the course's challenges.

20 Person Group in Front of Me
The staff at this course allowed 20 elderly gentleman to tee off at the same exact time. This slowed the pace of play to a halt. I teed off an hour and a half after my scheduled tee time.
Tee time coordination
Booked an available tee time through golf now. Started with no issues, but when making the turn is when I found the problem. They have leagues playing and I was lucky enough to run right into them. Couldn’t play the back as a league was released, and couldn’t just replay the front as a different league was going off there. Please adjust your tee time availability’s to coincide with the leagues.
Bruce Hills; worth the local deal
I’ve played Bruce Hill a few times, one work outing there, etc. Bruce is summed up like this; the locals seem to love it. That said it’s a pretty good deal at 27 if you do not mind the “social” pace of play. It’s on the short side so if you’re practicing irons its excellent for that. All in all I usually play this mid-day spur of the moment; it works well for that.
Four star type for a walking friendly “I’m working on something” laidback kinda place. Not a championship course and weighed as such.
Played 18 holes did cart girl drove past us 3 times
Too Crowded
Too many golfers crammed onto the course; usually two groups, often 3 groups per hole for a 4-1/2 hour round.
A LONG DAY
Played the front nine in 3 1/2 hours. Course was overbooked.
Pace of play
This course over-books their course making the play extremely slow. Avoid this course unless you like playing 9 holes in 3 hours. Extremely frustrating.
Tee time cancelled by Bruce Hills due to wet course
An hour before our tee time the course contacted me to say that they were not allowing carts on the course because it was too wet. Walking would be OK, but at my age walking is out of the question. So we will try Bruce Hills again later this season. Gave medium ratings for everything because I have not played this course in about 3 years.
Tough little track.
Tough little track. So you see 5600 yards on the scorecard and you say no problem, right? Wrong. The greens are small and crowned. They were not overly fast, but if you are on the wrong side of the holes your putts can definitely get away from you. This is a course where local knowledge will definitely help you.
Speaking of local knowledge, I played the course for the first time and it kicked my butt. Shot about eight strokes over my handicap. The Tee shots definitely favor a fade but there are ponds in many of the landing areas. Many of the Tee shots are blind, so you will definitely want to drive ahead and see what you’re looking at. The fairways are sloped in many places and a good shot can end up trickling down into a hazard or some really gnarly rough. The rough around the greens is deep. Course is well-maintained. They probably booked a few too many teetimes for Father’s Day as it was almost a five hour round. Everybody working there was very friendly and accommodating, especially Zack who took care of the carts. All in all it was a very nice course and a very enjoyable day but I advise leaving the driver in the car. You’ll have a better time. I went to the three Wood and 4 iron off the tee on the back nine and I scored better.
