Bruce Hills Golf Club
About
Bruce Hills Golf Course is located in the north metro Detroit area near Romeo. Mature trees are scattered throughout the course, providing shade and a peacefully secluded feel. The par-70 layout is relatively short at only 5,630 yards form the back tees, making it an ideal round for beginners but it still provides good practice and a quick round for more advanced players. The golf course sprawls across a diverse terrain that allows for downhill and uphill approaches to the small, round greens, which are often sloped from back to front. Keeping the ball below the hole is the key to scoring well on this golf course. Bruce Hills' player-friendly layout only has four bunkers but water comes into play on 12 holes, providing the bulk of the course's challenges.

Bruce Brown Hills!
I started golfing Bruce Hills three years ago. For the last three years Bruce Hills has had lush fairways and well groomed greens! Bruce Hills has always been great when it comes to prices! When you play golf in MI you usually don't leave a course saying "I can't believe they don't charge more to play here." That is exactly what I said the first five times I played B.H. When I pulled up at B.H. yesterday the lush fairways where brown , the tee boxes had more dirt then grass and the greens where like concrete! I guess Frost was right, Nothing Gold can stay!
Bruce hills is a poor course.
Tee boxes were terrible(dirt), grass was long everywhere. Greens were average, nothing special. The worst part was the scheduling, there was a 30 min wait just to tee off. 5 groups waiting before my group. The pace of play they allow to go on is absolutely terrible.
4 somes taking 20 min a hole is mind boggling. Do your self a favor and play elsewhere.
Solid course for price
Good value for the course. Fun layout with some challenge holes. Greens are in good shape but slow. Tee boxes and fairways could use some work. Would recommend!
managed well
i drive ~30 minutes to the course, best bang for an always $35 fee. cherry creek is local to me but is more expensive and requires a lot more balls if i want to complete the course. bruce hills is challenging but with proper club selection its a good time.
they cant control mother nature but they do a good job of fixing what mother nature turns into dirt. played 7 times in 5 weeks and all the "bad" spots were fixed or began growing replacement grass the next time i was there. fairways are great, rough is typically good as well. very few spots of concrete dirt.
cart paths need some work but again, mother nature sometimes doesnt care about the path and grows over it or roots push up the path and make it bumpy.
some days they book seemingly too many people but it is what it is.
Overbooked
Overbooked the course, could’ve easily played the back 9 at a way faster pace but “manager didn’t want us to” unnecessary hour added into our round. Not one happy staffs worker.... wonder why?
Fun in the sun? Be careful.
This is a fun little course. It is pretty straight forward with very sloped greens on 9,14, and 17 that will give you fits holding the slope. Accurate shot making is rewarded and you don't have to be crazy long to score well. We played early in the morning and the dew did not leave the surface of the greens until about 8:15 am. Perhaps due to the heat (90*) the green were not cut, but it would have been nice to have them whipped to remove the dew to improve putting.. It is a nice course at a fair price.
If you are concerned about COVID-19, Staff are not wearing masks in the club house, and no plastic dividers in the carts, Some ball washers were present with no towels, and there are no changes to the holes or pins to minimize contact with items others may have touched. So bring hand sanitizer with you if these things concern you..
too bad
Unfortunately it was way overbooked in fact it took us 25 minutes to tee off at the second hole as we were behind 4 other groups who were waiting...The staff was nice and the course was nice..just over booked and we saw at least 2 groups leave early in disgust..and we only played 9 holes as were were not going to spend another 3.5 hours playing back 9...
