Fun
Links style on the front and target golf on the back.
Solid Value
Gopher Hills was a fair test for this average golfer. There were risk/reward opportunities and you could still score without needing to smash driver. The greens were well manicured and the other golfers respected the pace of play nicely for a midweek round. The distinct differences between the front and back nines making the shift from a links-style to a more traditional feel, kept the course interesting throughout. A good value for the price paid.
Hills
The course was in good shape. Lots of hills so be prepared for awkward stances.
Neat little course.
I teed off on the backside and it's very much target golf oriented. A lot of elevation changes. You need to drive the ball accurately, which I somehow was able to do (sort of forced into it). The front side seemed a bit more like a links style course with quite a bit of wind coming into play. The greens were in good shape but super slow. Had a nice time and would probably come back on any given day.
Quick
Fast playing, good conditions. No waiting ! Enjoyable pace for the two of us playing.
dogleg fesque
I thought some of holes didn't give you a fair chance if you were off a little bit your ball was gone.
Great course
The pace of play was great, the greens rolled very well. Staff is very friendly. Would strongly recommend this course.
nice course
Course was in really good condition office service was exceptionally considerate course service came by about every 3-4 holes couldn't have asked or had a better afternoon. Thanks to the staff
Good value
G.H. is nestled in rolling hill farm country approx 35 miles SE of St. Paul MN. It is inexpensive to play & has 2 very different 9's. Front 9 is links style - very open but also exposed to wind - back 9 is more traditional but has some blind tee shots. Very seldom get a level lie here as you are either going uphill or downhill - difficult course to walk 18. Course condition gets better once into summer months (seem to have more workers) and has improved over the years and green condition & speed is better in 2014 than yrs past. Generous fairways but punishing if you miss them as ball is often lost once into June & beyond. More enjoyable if played a couple times. sight lines & club selection. Pace of play is goo
Keeps you coming back.
Great buy, nice staff. Our favorite course in the southern metro.
Best buy on Golfnow in the Metro Area
Excellent shape and friendly staff made the drive worth it. Enjoyed the variety in the hole design and layout. We will be back soon.
Has great service
Course was in excellent shape great service would recommend it!!!
Great bang for your buck.
Great conditions for this time of year. Great elevation changes. You need a cart here. Beverage cart girl asked what we wanted early and stayed stocked for the day.
Great value.
Challenging but fair course. Excellent value for seniors. My favorite course in the area.
excellent
fun place to play nice people, .I would recommend people drive to this course.
Great staff and good round of golf for the price
Played 18 with a cart for $32 a person on Golfnow.com. The course was in good shape and the staff was very helpful. I'll be coming back and would recommend Gopher Hills to a friend.
love 2 different nines
Love the course. Front links style. Back the old nine fun. Some elevation changes. Always been in good shape. Played there about 15 times through the years. Great play for the buck. Very friendly staff.
interesting design
some very tough holes, great views, course is in very good condition
Very scenic - great condition
The front and back nines are very different. The front is a links type course that looks open but it has a lot of long grass and marshes that all to frequently come into play. The back nine goes out through mature woods with narrow openings and more water hazards than the front.
The course is in terrific shape. Tees, fairways, greens are some of the best overall conditions I have played this year. Rough is not watered and can be a challenge if too far from the fairway. Outside of the rough and near cartpaths the conditions were close to pristine
This is a beautiful course. I have played here before and brought a camera with me this time to take some pictures back home. The picture I posted is the view from the first tee.
Challenging course with significant topography changes
Pleasant country drive to Miesville on a cool autumn morning. Corn fields abound as you pass acre after acre of farm fields. As you roll into Miesville, the Mudhens stadium greets you along with about 40 residences, 2 eating establishments and a church. Turn down Cty Rd 91 about 2 miles and topography begins to change. A beautiful club house and seclusion from metro hustle-&-bustle. Rolling terrain, large elevation differences without huge distance limitations. If you are in good shape walk. If NOT - ride! greens and fairways green and lush. Good yardage marking, 150 yard markers easy to see and they frame your shot. A few blind shots, but most are identifiable. Outstanding views from more than tee box and green. This is a fun course with challenging holes for all skill levels.
