Creeks Bend, and Marsh Also
Creeks Bend Golf Course is set on what was formerly farmland with lots of marshy areas and a creek meandering through the property. The course isn’t long, 6,293 yards from the back tees. Three additional sets of tees range down to 4,866 yards. The routing of the front nine takes you up the side of a hill and then back down. The back nine starts out on gently rolling terrain, but then holes 14 through 17 are routed around a marshy area and are fairly flat. Fairways are generously wide and there is sparse tree cover throughout the course. We played on opening day of the 2019 season so the course was “walking only”. There were piles of snow throughout the course and many fairways were quite squishy, so it wouldn’t be appropriate to make any judgements about the quality of the greens, fairways, and rough. No doubt things would be quite different in normal conditions. A proper warmup is advised before heading to the first tee, because your round will start off with two of the three most difficult holes on the course. On the first hole, a 374 yard par 4, a creek runs along the left side of the fairway before angling across in front of the green. The green is set at an angle to the fairway, paralleling the creek and increasing the difficulty of the approach shot. A par here will be well-earned. The second hole is a 431 yard par 4, with the fairway sloping from right to left. The green is elevated above the fairway, making the hole play longer. After playing the front nine, those in our group were impressed by the variety of the hole layouts. This variety continued throughout the second nine as well. The 380 yard par 4 twelfth has a pond on the left about 220 yards from the tee, and additional water running crosswise will require a 250 yard carry to clear. A landing area short and right of the water will set up a long but safe approach shot. The 14th is a 474 yard par 5. There is a large landing area for the first shot, but tee balls that are longer than 260 yards or so will run out of the fairway and into the marsh, especially on the right. A straight shot to the green is discouraged by a stand of trees directly on the target line. A safer shot to the right of the trees will leave a wedge shot to the green and a chance at birdie. This was the first time at Creeks Bend for all in our foursome, but all agreed that a summer round at this course would be welcome.
Great course with greens that roll great
Loved the condition of this course. Pace was great. Staff was very friendly.
Liked the course and the staff
Only criticism is that on hole four you could get killed. Twice after our drives a bit to the right have had foursome in back hit while we waited for green to clear. Whizzing sound is scary. Don't want to die on a golf course. Not sure how you fix it.
Great Course...Great Staff!!
For a couple years in a row a group of guys would drive 2 hours and spend the day at the course, every-time we stayed the staff treated us like customers, did not get the "non-member" treatment that some other courses do. The course has always been in great shape and they let you have the fun you came out to do!! The staff has always been accommodating. Its been a few years since we have been back due to schedule conflicts but planning on a trip soon!
Wide Open
This is a fun course to play because it is wide open and mostly forgiving. I am able to score 4-6 strokes less per 9 holes than my home course of Baker National. Many holes are medium length and easily reachable in 2 strokes, allowing for a few birdie opportunities. The greens are fairly fast, but no real steep slopes. There is water on the course but it rarely comes into play if you play within your limits.
Course has great features
My son and i have played this course a couple of times and the staff has always been friendly and the course in great shape.
Fun course with moderate cjalenges
Love to play this course. It has excellent variety in length of holes and topography as well as challenges. I love the old barn as a club house. It adds a wonderful sight to this picturesque course.
Needs work
The course is fine to play with some fun quirky holes. There have been minor improvements made the past few years and the greens have gotten much better. Unfortunately the golf carts are very old and in need of repair badly. The cart paths also need work as they are crumbling and very bumpy. The head golf pro is not real friendly towards guests which I've witnessed and been a part of. This is not a private country club or even a high end public course - its a decent play to go have some fun with your buddies. I'm hoping things improve next summer.
Disappointed this round
This is a busy course which I play 2-3 times per year. On this day, the course was bone dry. The greens were rock hard and impossible to stop a ball on. The fareways were like hitting off concrete. Even the tee boxes were so hard you almost needed a hammer to put a tee in the ground. Additionally, there were mounds of cut grass on the fringes around the greens on many holes. Won't be back soon.
Enjoyable Day
Great greens, fairways and tee's were a bit thin. The rough was well cut and thick. Staff was very helpful and polite.
Rough Shape
No starter or Ranger anywhere to be found. Pace of play was over 4 1/2 hours. Course is too expensive for how bad of shape it is in. Tea boxes didn’t have grass on them.
Beautiful course in a peaceful setting
Nice change from the crowded city courses. Beautiful setting with the creek running through. Friendly staff all around.
Needs work on experience
I have golfed Creeks Bend 4 or 5 times a year for years. I am sad to say the experience has not been good lately. Friday, no practice balls because they were not picked up from yesterday. At 12:30 brats and hot dogs were not ready yet. Cart paths and other areas filled with pot holes. Grass had not been cut for a couple of days. Pace of play was bad as there were twosomes, fivesomes, etc.
I don't expect perfection, but there were too many issues that seemed to be from lack of help.
Nice course, little water logged
The course was slightly water bogged on several holes.. They had recent flooding but nothing for several days so a testament to the lack of drainage.. Course is good for difficulty level as several holes prove to be a challenge for even decent golfers..
Cart girls Emily and Sydney were very helpful even when watching my teammates shank their shots in front of them..
Excellent value, good facilities
I play CreeksBend once or twice a year. It's always a pleasant experience with friendly staff and a fair layout. Part of the course can be subject to issues with water because of the nature of the layout. That is to be expected and worked around, not a negative. Overall, the course is well-maintained and a pleasant experience for the average, beginning or advanced golfer.
Great Course with a Friendly Staff
I had a great time at Creeksbend and will be coming back again. They have a great area to practice and nice target targets to aim at. A huge practice green.
Course was in great shape and I got paired up with two locals who gave me an overview of the course.
Hello, we're glad you enjoyed our fun course layout. Thank you for playing CreeksBend Golf Course!
