Hole 10 Photo submitted by u314164227538 on 07/08/2023
The courseis in great condition.
Excellent value. Wonderful condition. The Pro Shop personnel, well, not so hot. Seemed a bit angry that I got it so cheaply through Golf Now.
Great course, great views
I played this course before and enjoyed it. This time played alone but took my 3 year old granddaughter and 2 year old grandson. We started at 810 am and finished before noon. Was a beautiful day, the kids loved the long rides in the cart between holes going up and down hills. (Bring donuts and milk to keep the the kids happy while sitting in the cart watching Grandpa hit the ball.)
There are some great views on the top holes and the 17th par three is still my favorite with the very elevated tee.
Was a special day for Grandpa and the kids plus I shot one of my best rounds of the season.
fun layout
Decent course, fun layout at a golf now price.
Rough and Tumble Conditions
Given the challenge of the undulating and dramatic elevations it's understandable that the Highlands is tough to keep in good shape. However, many housekeeping and basic grounds keeping elements were lacking. Fairways were OK at best; greens were beat up; cart paths are very poor, bunkers were rough.
No complaints for a heavily discounted round but I wouldn't want to pay full price for this. The course needs hours of manpower investment.
Spectacular views of Mississippi River valley
Course requires player to hit straight shots. Both drives and approach. Greens have many elevations and undulations but fun to play.
Several elevated tee boxes. Views are amazing.
Course is picturesque!
Tees, greens, and fairways in great shape. The rough was thick but fair. Only negative was some of the sandtraps were in conversion to grass bunkers and were weedy. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Overall course in great shape, challenging, and the views terrific. Highly reccomend, you will not be dissapointed.
Lots of great scenic views, lots of dog-legs, get to the corners and get to the right side of the fairways to get a good shot at getting to the green
Fun course to play, poor drainage with there sand bunkers, looks like there letting a lot of them grow over with grass.. Rest of course had good drainage with the 4 inches of rain from the day before. Could use rangers of course to speed up groups that get behind. Group ahead of us got two holes behind there group. and this was the Club Champion Tournament going on.
Working on the course
The course was in good shape other than some old bunkers that they were filling with grass. These had a lot of weeds in them and it was hard to find your ball in. there were many of them.
Pro shop clowns
Great course. Fun layout. Excellent value.
But...
The two guys in the clubhouse were rude and completely incapable of passing a business 101 class. Continue to be rude and unfriendly, but don't be surprised when people stop coming back. Those guys should be fired.
Hot Deal
The course is in good condition, and provides a solid challenge to the average golfer. We played with a "hot deal" for $14 including cart. I think walking the course would be tough as there are several long walks between green and the next tee.
We completed our round in under 3 hours! No slow play noted at all.
Pro Shop Blunders
Love the layout of the course. It's such a beautiful, scenic experience and the quality of the course itself is great. The cart girl was super friendly and even drove all the way back to find us because she accidentally overcharged a dollar. The guys in the pro shop on the other hand were what I can only describe as kind of douschey towards us. The first guy was rude when we started and the second guy was rude to us as we were leaving. So, we probably won't be back again for that reason.
Mississippi National
This is a very scenic course and thoroughly enjoyed playing 18 holes there for a great price. Course condition is quite good in the Fairways and on the greens but the bunkers are not being maintained at all
Fun, challenging course
I was really impressed with how well the course was in shape, when just 4 days before, a huge storm came through and knocked down a bunch of trees.
Kudos to the maintenance people for a job well done on making the course very playable.
Frustrating Round...
Mississippi National is one of those courses that gets by on scenery. The views are fantastic so it gets easier to over look the general "ehhhness" of the course. What wrecked the round was the 6-some that the course allowed to continue playing despite stacking groups 3 deep on the tee box behind them, nothing says fun like a 6 hour 15 minute round.
Fun and beautiful
Played the Highlands. Cart is mandatory. Great views and the course is on great shape. There is no drinking water on the course and you cannot go back to the clubhouse after 9. Some very interesting holes. If you haven't played here you should.
Great views, great greens, bunkers need work
The scenery is awesome and so was the condition of the greens. However most of the bunkers were washed out, grown in with weeds or not maintained all together. Appears they are turning them into grass bunkers?
Only complaint is that play was slow and we did not see a ranger who could enforce pace of play.
This course is not a great fit for the golfer that can't break 90 or keep it out of the woods. Would recommend the pro shop steers the hacker level golfer to the Lowlands Course.
You can't beat the views, might be one of the best in the state for this feature alone!
Lowlands is a real jewel
Course was in very good condition, Tee boxes were in very good shape and well maintained. Even with the rain for the two days before and the blow down, the grounds maintenance team had the course in very good shape. Greens were a bit slow, again with the rain, they were bound to be slow and soft.
Mississippi National
Course was in pretty good shape and the staff was very polite. The cart was very poor but we got thru ok.
Great Experience
First time at this course and I was totally impressed. Best greens I've played on all year. Distance difference between the men and women made it a fair challenge for a couple. Will be back
