It's been better
Played the course numerous times and have always appreciated the staff and layout. But this course has gone severely downhill in condition. Used to be one of the premier courses at the lake. Greens are okay shape but everything else was rough. And it's been a great spring for timely natural waters. So there's not that excuse. I think it's likely time they consider shutting down the other course and put all their money and efforts into improving the Cove to what it once was.
Great layout needs some TLC
I love playing the Cove and Ridge nice fun Ozark layouts, but it’s time for some upgrades and maintenance. Cart paths are rough fairways thin green were ok . If they don’t do something soon they will begin a decline hard to recover from. Staff is good and friendly.
Ozark Tradition
Once upon a time this course was on top of a short list of excellent courses to play at LOTO. Now unfortunately it is in pretty shape. Most of the fairways are without grass, the cart paths are in need of major repair and the greens on the day we played were recon from being punched and sanded.
Unless some major improvements are made to this one it is not worth the $ they are charging.
Terrible Conditions, Great Staff
It looked like the only thing that's being done to the course is mowing. Everything looked terrible. Staff was great though.
Disappointing Course In Bad Shape
I am a rare review guy, let alone a bad review guy, but I feel people need to know what to expect when booking here.
We had 16 guys for a recent golf trip to Missouri and this was one of the 4 courses we played that was included in the stay and play package. The golf course was in extremely rough shape. The greens were extremely bumpy due to recent/poor aeration. Putting was difficult. The fairways are patchy, muddy, and brown almost everywhere which is rough on the eyes. The bunkers are rock hard, no sand, no rakes, and has black fabric coming up from under the bunkers. We played cart path only, which was fine, but added to the frustration of playing a course that was extremely beat up. Hopefully this course gets better as the summer goes on because right now it is not worth the $ for a round and would not be on our list of courses to play again until they go through major changes.
The only positive about our experience is that the clubhouse ladies and cart girls were extremely nice and did a fantastic job with food/serving drinks when there was a huge rush of 15-20 orders around lunch time.
Need to have a Marshall. Twosome in front of us was very slow which backed up the course.
Horrific
This course was a disaster. Played this last weekend (first weekend of May, 2024) and the condition of the course was an embarrassment. Fairway had several types of grass, including brown patches of dirt and dead grass. The greens were also a disaster. Terrible conditions. The Cove charged $125 for 18 … should be no more than $40.
Dump
Do not play this course. It is one of the worst courses I have ever played, and we were charged $120 on Friday afternoon. The fairways are in terrible condition… a combination of crabgrass, weeds and dirt patches. This apparently was once a nice course, but the ownership is clearly not putting any money into it. An absolute ripoff. Stay away.
Lake of the Ozarks premiere golf course
The cove is a gorgeous course and challenging for golfers of all skill levels. Lots of water and elevation changes.
Poor course conditions
Robert Trent Jones would be embarrassed to see this course now. Hal’s dead fairways. Bunkers with black tarps coming through the sand . 4 inch weeds growing in the bunkers. Slow play. Pro shop staff was very friendly and courteous.
Classic course
It was cart path only due to recent rains. The course is a real handful with a very challenging layout. Fairways were still dormant but still provided acceptable lies. Greens were fast enough and held the ball well. The course is a good test of your game. Not sure the pro shop was ready for golf season (no scorecards no tees available) but the staff was very friendly and nice.
Tough layout
Fairway slope and we had trouble finding balls if you didn't hit the fairway.
