Waiting Time Ruins Great Course
This is a very nice course. You really have to look at options off the tee and the greens are very nice and in great condition. However the round took over 5 hours to play. It was a Saturday afternoon but there was not one ranger seen on the back nine to speed up the groups ahead of us. I was playing with another person and we paired up with another twosome thinking this would help our pace of play but still had minimum 10-15 min wait on each tee box. there were two groups ahead of us and one of the groups parked their cart intentionally in front of the green on the par three 15th so the other group in front of us couldn't tee off. No rangers where around to talk too and the pace dragged. Its to bad two since I do love the holes and layout of this course but because of lack of management and control I will not return this year.
No rain check
Poured and they don't give rain checks.which not aware of.
so , beware if it might rain , don't go to oak ridge or marsh oaks.
Player friendly course
Friendly course for the average golfer and an easier course for an advanced player to post a good score. Only problem I notice is that the course has a couple holes that retain water and make the ground really soft and often under repair after a storm. Other than those couple of holes it is a great course for the money.
Poor Service
Book the first tee time of the day because my foursome works on Sunday afternoon. We play fast get out have fun and get to work on time.
But not today a Group books 5 tee times but show up with 7 groups. As we try to make the turn they let the extra 2 groups go off before us and say I have to make everyone happy. Not only did it slow us down
But made a few of us late for work. Very unhappy with that decision they made.
Fun Course
This is a fun course with wood and water hazards on many holes. It starts out tight and open up after 6th hole. This is shooters course where you will user every club in your bag and Driver is not always the best club off the tee. Course management is necessary and if you manage your shots it is possible to score. This has always been one of my favorite courses in the area but have not played it in a few years. The greens are great and fast the way I like them. Enjoy the ride!
Only Golf With a Coupon
Prepaid with a friend $15 for 18 holes (normally 30-35). Great deal but was stuck behind an outing. Ranger wouldn't allow us to drive out to hole 10 as Marsh Oaks number 10 is the farthest hole from the clubhouse. Ended up quitting after 9 due to the pace. But greens were well kept and somewhat fast. Course needs new cart paths though. BUMPY
Good Value for the Money
This was the first playing the Old Oaks course. For this time of the season, the course was in fairly good condition. The greens ran true and were in great condition. There were a few holes on the front 9 with a sea of dandelions, but they were in the rough. I booked the tee time an hour before tee time for an excellent price. The pace of play was excellent...I finished the round in less than 4 hours playing as a single. My only complaint is that the gas carts needs some updating. The cart I was assigned didn't have a windshield and the was very slow to get going every time I stopped. The staff is very friendly.
Great for practice but that's it
This course is called old oaks for a reason. You can't beat a deal for $12 and a cart but It wasn't really challenging except for a few par 4's with a narrow tree line. Pretty much driver, wedge the entire round. The greens were just redone so putting was difficult but they had good speed. The carts were in bad shape, very old and worn.
Nice ego course
Not overly challenging , good course for the first round of the year. You can shoot a good score without trying to hard.
Nice course
For early in the season the course was in decent shape. They clearly overbooked, pace of play was terrible.
challenging course
The coarse was in pretty good condition some of the tee boxes need work
This course was overbooked
We paid for 18 holes and were told it would take at least 5 hours to complete. The front nine went great then we ran into a wall. We only played 12 holes. When we got to number 13, we ran into a wall of players. There were 3 foursomes waiting to play that hole and two behind us. We would have been there for at least 6 hours. Will not play there again. We could not get a rain check because we booked through Golf Now.
a local treasure
This course is the little brother of the much more difficult "Myth", yet all the same care is given to this wide open treasure. The fairways are as smooth as carpet and the greens are some of the truest in Michigan. Forgiving landscape and open design can lead to low scores for the twice a month golfer, while lending itself open for the aggressive long hitter to shoot that elusive thirty something.
Great open space
I like it very much very open nice staff very rough hazards
Solid all around
I enjoyed the course and the staff was friendly. The beverage cart took a little longer than we would have preferred but she was covering 36 holes so we understood. The lack of food at the turn (lack of anything, really) bothered us but they would load up the beverage cart with hot dogs so it wasn't too bad. Overall it was a great experience. The course itself was tight and wide open. Forgiving but not too much. We only paid $15 which made this trip extremely worth it but I wouldn't mind paying more to play here again.
Tuesday morning screw job
Teed off 645 am. Enjoying a wonderful morning playing solo until I was informed by who I think was a ranger that there was an outing teeing off at 9 on holes 13 to 18. I was told on the 10th fairway at 815. So I had to race through the back to avoid getting stuck in the middle of the outing. Nothing was said about this in the pro shop. Put a damper on a nice morning and was really in-excusable. All they had to do was say it when I teed off I would have played the front a little quicker. Course in decent shape. Greens slower than I remember them but I did appreciate greens being mowed so I wouldn't have to wait for grounds crew. Still a nice track but not the premium course it once was. 25 bucks was a decent value. I wouldn't pay normal rates on this course anymore. New carts...which was nice. Obviously a fast pace but this course generally is plagued by backups and slow play.
Tough but fair
Greens in good shape easy quick play in early a.m . Not so much as day moves on
Very nice course.
Course was in great shape. Greens need to be rolled. Very difficult to read putts.
At least you were told. My husband and I were the first ones off a Sunday morning and we had to call the pro shop when all these carts came flying by and took up position on holes 12 - 18 (we were in the fairway on hole 11). Two groups of 4 EACH hole. Never did finish the 18 - it was too darn slow. NOTHING said in the pro shop. Very disappointing.
