Great Day to Play
One of my favorite courses. It has a couple easy holes and several very challenging ones. I enjoy the challenge. Course is well maintained. No maintenance issues except for one green with some weeds or crabgrass but very playable.
Play was a bit slow but the course was very busy that day. A lot of people taking advantage of the nice weather.
Great morning round at Bear Creek!
First of all it's hard to beat playing 18 holes for just $25 bucks. Course was in decent condition. A few tee boxes were rather worn out but the greens were smooth and putted very well - a little fast - just the way I like it. There are some very interesting holes requiring some strateg-ery to make things interesting. Had a great time! Thank you!
Great value
I play this course quite a bit because there is a handful of courses within 30 mins that are typically more expensive and rarely as good as bear creek. The course is fair but tough.
Slow Play and Bad Bunkers
The first few holes were paced well. Not much trouble, but then after 3 holes, it was gridlock. A marshal came by and told us it was slow play ahead and they hoped they would be moving faster because they had a TOURNAMENT LATER that day. The foursome two groups ahead was very slow and instead of letting us play through or moving them off the course, they just let them play slow. It took 3 hours to play nine holes. Luckily half their group left after the front nine and the back nine only took us 2 hours, for a grand total of 5 hours. I know it has been stated on here before but their
bunkers are terrible. Some were filled with rocks. I would recommend taking a free drop to the side. Don't risk damaging your nice clubs in these bunkers.
Great Course in Great Shape
I’ve played Bear Creek since it’s Grand Opening, it’s one of the more challenging courses in this area.
For years the course has been less than it could be when it comes to condition, but this year has been different everything in great shape except some of the traps, and they have always had trouble getting their traps to drain but they are working on them and it will take some time to get the traps the way they need to be. One green still had some issues with some crab grass but the rest were in good shape, fairways, tee boxes and rough all good. My hats off to the greens keeper and staff, your doing a much better job. Keep up the good work!!
This is a great course and it’s a shame when it’s not properly cared for.
Love the course, wish they would spread out the tee times more
Course was in solid shape for the summer we have had. Fairways are strong, rough is thin and dry as can be expected. Does have a few greens that we're stressed. However the few that weren't we're the best I've ever seen them. 2 things this course needs to fix for my liking. We played a Saturday morning round and we started 15 mins behind our start time. This was a perfect weather day. The reason was due to having way to many tee times to close to each other. We played in 5 hours and 15 mins. Waited on almost every shot!! I love this course but I only play a couple times a year because a 5 hour round on a weekend is the norm. And the other one I have and I'm sure most golfers can relate to is....how can u have so many bunkers and an already difficult golf course and not have any sand? And when I say no sand, I mean it's straight dirt! Anyway, the cost was at least appropriate. But listen up Bear Creek. You can be a great golf course. You are under achieving. But still a solid course for the money. And be prepared for a long round. I'm a 3 handicap. (I know that matters to some)
I was expecting burned out fairways and brown grass everywhere but the course was in perfect shape and GREEN!! The Greens were perfect speed and rolled real nice. Paid more than used to but worth the extra money. this is 5 miles from my house so I love it.
Actually had drink cart come around frequently!!!!
Some courses skip this perk!
GREAT EXPERIENCE
Bear Creek has made significant improvements. The course is in great shape overall and the greens are the best I have played in several years. Great Experience!

Could be Better
Great layout and challenging from the back two sets of tees. The bunkers were nothing but dirt (and ROCKS). No sand. Greens were good, but the hackers who play here can't figure out how to fix a pitch mark. As usual, the pace of play became slow once I caught up with the groups in front of me. Some of the holes are easy, but there are some very good golf holes on this course. They need to raise the price to keep the hackers away, put some sand in the bunkers, keep the greens cut fast, and this would be a solid course.
Everyone and course was great.
But on a hot and humid day you expect water to be on the course the last couple of times playing there the coolers on course have been empty or warm water in them. I suggest bringing your own cold water because you might not find it on the course.
Most of the tee boxes were in so,so shape. The sand traps looked like a rock quarry. They need to be raked & the big chunks of rocks removed.
Fabulous Day of "Golfing with Friends"
With Kirk Porter's assistance, I put together an outing for 8 people - "The Longest Day of Golf". We were pleasantly surprised to learn about and take advantage of the great weekday rate, Wednesday Special of lunch and practice balls, and a replay cost that is far less than other local courses. The event covered 36 holes (morning and afternoon) and the staff made us all feel like "members" for a day! It was hot, but that is St. Louis in the summer... There was plenty of water on the course and refreshments afterwards. I am going to make this an annual event at Bear Creek and would advise others to do the same.
Thank you for the 5-star review! We appreciate your business and hope to see you soon.
Good pace of play
A lot of people playing but it still only took 4:10 to play.
Thank you for the review! We hope you come join us for a round soon!
