Bear Creek Golf Club

This was the most frustrating round of golf I have ever experienced. Our tee time was 11:15 on a Sunday. From the first tee to the 16th tee there was always at least 1 if not 2 groups on the tee box. We didn't see a marshal until the 13th hole. When we finally decided that we had had enough, we arrived at the 16th tee box with 3 other groups. It was 4:55 in the afternoon, almost 5 hours into the round with 3 holes to go. We left at that point. If you are going to book tee times every 8 minutes on a Sunday, than you really should have someone on the course making sure that play moves along. Its a shame that what could have been a pleasurable experience turned into a grueling waste of a precious Sunday. We will not return.

Have played this course many times. It is a challenging course for sure. They have always struggled with the pace of play. Played on a Sunday and had at least a 5 hour round. Play it during the week and it should be a very enjoyable experience.

Played on a nice spring day. Course was in great shape, greens played fast, fairways are greening up and in good shape. Great course for the money. Friendly staff and on site driving range is nice.

I had a blast today and can't wait to visit them again. The lodge is very nice and the staff is very friendly.

This course is very close to my home so I play it frequently. The price I find on golfnow is usually worth it. I love the layout, it forces you to hit the ball straight as anything left or right off the tee is going to severely limit you or likely be OB. My only complaint are the greens aren't where they should be, not a very true roll. Also a lot of the 2nd cut and the rough have dead patches where you are hitting off of dry dirt. Around the green these patches are annoying as you can be 2 feet off the green and have a bad shot at the ball because the grass is uneven and you may be on the front side of crab grass. However, as I mentioned the prices I find on this site are usually worth it, and I will continue to play here.

If you book on Line and they happen to be behind, which they usually are, they will not accommodate you or release you from your pre paid tee time. If you book as a single on golf now, you will get paired up as they are usually behind in tee times and the round is slow. The old guys at the desk aren't very friendly and they seem to think their course is the only one in the area worth playing. If you book a late tee time on golf now, they may have 3 groups of walk ups that can tee off in front of you, and again, no refund will be given when the slowness of the round will not be completed before dark. Overall, this is a nice course, but it has horrible management.

The course is in disrepair. Sand traps were completely unkempt, fairways were mowed to the dirt, tees were not in good shape and the greens were slower than my back yard and about as bumpy. I was saddens by this condition because it is a great layout. I would not play it again even for the hot time rate.

This course must have about a one-man maintenance crew. The greens are apparently being mowed once a week, if that. There is no sand in the many bunkers; it's like trying to play out of a dry river bed: hard pan clay. If they are not going to maintain their bunkers, they should fill them in and make them grass bunkers. They have mowed the dormant zoysia fairways almost down to the dirt. Play elsewhere: even a hot deal isn't worth it. It takes forever to play, with no course marshals. Perhaps next spring this place will be better.

While few golfers were on the course in front of us, we had a twosome of beginners that really slowed the pace of our game. The course needs to have a ranger that will keep up the pace of play. After the first nine holes, they did let us go through and we never looked back.

I've played this course many times, my problem with the course is you'll never have a quick round. Every time I book a twosome with a friend, we get paired up with another twosome. Normally I wouldn't mind that, but by the fifth hole, we have twosomes and singles coming up behind us, how does this seem right to anyone? My friend and I have played rounds under two hours by ourselves, we both are single digit handicaps and the fastest round we've ever had here is close to five hours. They'd be better served not to pair up groups and let people play through naturally. If you pair up two twosomes who didn't want to play together to begin with, why would we want to let a twosome play through? They would have never caught us to begin with.

I like the course but my patience with it are running thin.

This course is a great challenge - and with the multiple tees, allows space for players of all skill levels. Unfortunately, dry conditions interspersed with heavy rain make it a challenge to keep all the grounds in top playing shape. It appears they have allowed the greens to grow (some had been aerated) to help keep them alive/healthy. This leads to some consternation when putting. Overall a fun round - if only I could hit it a little straighter!

Golf now should establish some kind of link with the courses when maintenance is being done
