Great Value
I booked an 8:56am tee time for a threesome the night before on Golf Now and it worked great. I was surprised to find this time available and the price per player with cart was the best in town at only $27.50 each. The weather was forecasted to be surprisingly warm for this day, so I thought a last minute tee- time would be hard yo come by last minute, but there it was on Golf Now. I booked it and that morning we arrived at the course and the staff checked us in and the cart was ready to go. We even had a few minutes to fire a few range balls before the first tee. We got to the tee 10 minutes early and off we went. Clear sailing all through the 18 holes with no slow downs at all. We played at a nice 4 hour pace and actually finished under 4 hours. The course was in great shape for early February in Missouri. After the round we enjoyed a couple of ice cold beverages while we watched the ending of the Blurs hockey game in the spectacular bar/lounge area. Great day! This is the best bang for your buck.
Could not believe
Could not believe that Bear Creek has reverted back to Cedar Ridge The greens were aerated to late in the fall and then let grow to high ,but then they are so beat up that they are unputtable . I dont know how long in to the growing season it will be before they can straighten things out ,but it wont be soon
One of the best values for the money
Playing conditions could be improved by cleaning the many broken tees on each tee box. Also, the tee box
colored markers were missing. Bunkers could certainly use attention.
December Round
For being the middle of December, the fairways and greens were in great shape.
Great place
I've been here a couple times and I keep coming back because the place is always well kept up. Even when it's almost December it still is great, very challenging and nice scenic views. A little pricier but well worth it!
Nice course
This is a very nice course but I think it's over priced.
great value for the money
they made us wait for second twosome which made us play late in the afternoon but I understand that is their policy . I wish that I knew that before we made the tee time
hit n sit
splendid 70 dergree morning/afternoon spent waiting on tee boxes , 8:32 tee time off at 8:47 , 3 hours later front nine is finihed , back nine we warped it up to 2 1/2 as we only waited on holes 15 , 16 ,17 , personally i think it is due to over booking by the course , the tee times are just 8 minutes apart and they offer 9 and 18 hole rates at same times plus there was 100+ golfers in a scramble format tourney on the course when we arrived at 8:00 , normally enjoy playing here but this was crazy , i would still recommened playing this course if they keep the proper number of golfers on the course , someone needs to come up with a icon that lets you know you are booking a time on a course that already has a tourney scheduled on it and it might be slow
Greedy Management
I was grouped with a threesome and placed behind a large scramble tournament. In 40 years of golfing this was the worst course experience I have ever had. The pace of play was beyond slow. The threesome I was grouped with quit after six holes. I quit after 15 holes and 5 hours 30 minutes. The management thought it would be a good idea to squeeze a few extra groups in behind their morning tournament.
Poor Management
Course was in decent condition. Way overbooked. They did not have any golf carts available when we got there. Had to wait 15 min past our tee time before any carts were available to use. Took 3-1/2 hours to play 9 holes.
There are no easy holes here
Bear Creek is a fun course to play, and more difficult than the other course in Wentzville.
The tee boxes and fairways were in great shape, and the greens were consistent speed. there are numerous old pitch marks on the greens (why don't people repair them??!!), but not an exorbitant amount.
The lay out is difficult but not penal. Except for #1, there are no obvious birdie holes. There are well placed bunkers and woods and hazards on most holes that require precision off the tee, and plenty of length if you play from the last 3 tee boxes.
One complaint- not many ball washers at the tee boxes. Another- on the par 5#4, the lay up area in front of the creek wasn't mowed to fairway length. A perfect lay up shot leaves you in deep rough.
good, challenging course
When we played the Bear Creek, conditions were less than ideal. Recent heavy rain had left the course very wet, and consequently the course had been unable to mow the fairways leaving them fairly shaggy (not the courses fault). The course was fun to play however, with some challenging holes. The course is a definitely a great value with discounted greens fees.
Challenging, and Fun
Always enjoyable to play even when the mist is coming down. A few holes are in lower areas that hold water, but better than most courses that do not have good draining.
Nice layout, but disappointed with the length if fairway grass.
This course is usually in better condition than it was for this round. The fairways had not been cut in a while, so the course played longer than usual. Greens were in average condition...lots of ball marks left unrepaired.
Slow & Steady
Golf course was in good shape and the rain held off. This was my 4th time playing the course and it has yet to change. I don't know if slow play is because this is in a subdivision and the residents make a day for a round or what. But 5hrs & 35 min for a round is ridiculous, I like the course a lot but I could do without an all day affair for one round.
A New Favorite
For anyone concerned about playing in a residential neighborhood, you don't have to worry here. You will be pleasantly surprised with the layout and the way the designer allowed for maximum distance from the rough to the houses. 7000+ yards was not too long and allowed for almost every club in the bag to be used.
Mow the tee boxes, please
I love this course, very challenging. The rough was very thick, thicker than I remember. My complaint is not about the rough. My complaint is about the tee boxes. I am not exaggerating when I say that some of (most of) the tee boxes had longer grass than the rough. I don't know if they were letting it grow, but it was downright ridiculous. Like I said, I love the course, great set-up, but come on. I was hitting from rough to rough at times. And that was from the tee box. That was my only complaint about the round. Just please, mow the tee boxes before I come back.
Great Condition
This was the second time that I have played this course. It has been extremely well kept. Especially, this late in the season. Play was horribly slow, but that's what you get when you have a foursome that refuses to let others play through. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this to others.
