Great Course
One of my favorite courses to play in the St. Louis area. It's always in great shape and the scenery is beautiful.
Buyer Beware... Bear Creek
Let me start by saying this seems to be a policy for Golf Now patrons. As you get to the clubhouse and check-in, you'll find that you have your name on a cart. This in itself causes issues as sometimes you can get the key or sometimes the key is released to your playing partner. This means that you'll have to hoof it with your clubs to the first tee box across the street (just a big inconvenience#. The staff is nice and generally helpful but if you're Golf Now patron the staff will not allow you to tee off until your time regardless if the course is empty. When asked the staff will give you a story about inventory control. Really? I saw the loss of green fees every ten minutes I waited and the tee box didn't have players on it. They surely had the possiblity of a walk up buying that tee time if they released the players that were ready to play.
In addition, the staff also has given the reason that they won't let you go off early as a twosome yet we allowed several twosomes and singles through only because twosomes and singles play quicker than foursomes (3 hours 50 minutes for our round but what do you know...the ability to speed up the coruse and create more inventory to sell). It's true that Golf Now prices are lower but the management doesn't seem to see that it's loss leader and they probably shouldn't sell the tee time at that price. If you get a cheap rate expect to be treated similar to a passenger on an airline when using points on a 3 star carrier...kinda' like a hostage not a customer. The course was in decent shape and shot a 75...lucky I have a short memory. So until the policy changes ... buyer beware.
We apologize that you had a bad experience when visiting us at Bear Creek. The policy you described is applicable to trade times through Golf Now, which was not properly explained to you at the time of your check-in. Next time you visit, we will be happy to talk about this with you. We hope that you will find another time to come out and visit the course and see that this is not always our policy. Still, we thank you for coming out to the course and playing at Bear Creek!
Booked a hot deal
Course was in great shape for April and a lot of rain in the past week. Staff let multiple foursomes ahead of my groups tee time, and we were ready to play. Staff members weren't rude or anything, but they had an odd way of doing some things
Tough when weather is rough
I played with 2 other friends on a day we all should have gone to a sports bar and watched golf on TV instead. Regardless , we had a great time , because " any day you can play golf is a good day " ! This always a tough course because of the length for the average golfer and when the weather is cold , windy and rainy it makes it a test of your sanity. I'll go back again for sure but wait for a nicer day.
excellent course
Played in March, fairways still not green. Great layout. Greens were in great shape smooth and quick. Bunkers also in great shape. Was cart path only but not bad. Overall was staff was great can't wait to return often.
Nice track for the money
Played Bear Creek for the first time in 4-5 years after being in a private club. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised at how challenging it was and given a little TLC it could be considered a very good course. Granted we played in March and I'm sure as spring rolls in, the course should be in better shape. We enjoyed the layout and will definitely be back.
Not a great round
While it was one of the first beautiful days of the year, 70 and sunny, the rate of play was terrible. Prior to teeing off, @ 230, we were told 18 was playing roughly 4 1/2 hours. Understandable and acceptable for the conditions. Fast forward to 530 when we finally finished the first 9 and stopped into the clubhouse. Sunset was established @ 715. We explained how slow the course was playing, as we were constantly backed up behind 2 sets of 4 somes, and that at that rate of play, there was no chance of finishing in time (we were running about 6-8 min per hole and waiting at least 20 to tee off on the next). We asked if it would be possible to get a credit for 9 as we had paid for 18. We were told that this was not possible unless we attempted to finish 18 and then they'd "see" if they could do anything. Not a great experience.... Poor customer service!
Great course for a low price
I found this course using golfnow the morning of my round. Have seen it advertised by was 30 mins from my house and haven't made the trek yet, but am I glad I did. I paid $15 with tax for my round of 18 plus cart. For it being March with snow and rain pelting the course for the last 2 months it was in great shape. The only negative was condition of sand traps but that's picky. I'm a college student who tries to play where value is and Bear Creek has it. I will be back. Loved the drivable par 4 17th. I played 18 in 3 hrs due to friendly members letting me play thru and being a solo (played two balls as well).
You hit every club in your bag
The coarse was in great shape considering all the wet weather we have had
great golf course
I found this course to be in very good shape for early in the year. The course offers great challenges for the intermediate player with a fair amount o water and sand. Its a enjoyable experience. Ken Seitz
Great Value
I booked an 8:56am tee time for a threesome the night before on Golf Now and it worked great. I was surprised to find this time available and the price per player with cart was the best in town at only $27.50 each. The weather was forecasted to be surprisingly warm for this day, so I thought a last minute tee- time would be hard yo come by last minute, but there it was on Golf Now. I booked it and that morning we arrived at the course and the staff checked us in and the cart was ready to go. We even had a few minutes to fire a few range balls before the first tee. We got to the tee 10 minutes early and off we went. Clear sailing all through the 18 holes with no slow downs at all. We played at a nice 4 hour pace and actually finished under 4 hours. The course was in great shape for early February in Missouri. After the round we enjoyed a couple of ice cold beverages while we watched the ending of the Blurs hockey game in the spectacular bar/lounge area. Great day! This is the best bang for your buck.
Could not believe
Could not believe that Bear Creek has reverted back to Cedar Ridge The greens were aerated to late in the fall and then let grow to high ,but then they are so beat up that they are unputtable . I dont know how long in to the growing season it will be before they can straighten things out ,but it wont be soon
One of the best values for the money
Playing conditions could be improved by cleaning the many broken tees on each tee box. Also, the tee box
colored markers were missing. Bunkers could certainly use attention.
December Round
For being the middle of December, the fairways and greens were in great shape.
Great place
I've been here a couple times and I keep coming back because the place is always well kept up. Even when it's almost December it still is great, very challenging and nice scenic views. A little pricier but well worth it!
Nice course
This is a very nice course but I think it's over priced.
great value for the money
they made us wait for second twosome which made us play late in the afternoon but I understand that is their policy . I wish that I knew that before we made the tee time
hit n sit
splendid 70 dergree morning/afternoon spent waiting on tee boxes , 8:32 tee time off at 8:47 , 3 hours later front nine is finihed , back nine we warped it up to 2 1/2 as we only waited on holes 15 , 16 ,17 , personally i think it is due to over booking by the course , the tee times are just 8 minutes apart and they offer 9 and 18 hole rates at same times plus there was 100+ golfers in a scramble format tourney on the course when we arrived at 8:00 , normally enjoy playing here but this was crazy , i would still recommened playing this course if they keep the proper number of golfers on the course , someone needs to come up with a icon that lets you know you are booking a time on a course that already has a tourney scheduled on it and it might be slow
Thank you for your recommendation! We are happy to hear that you enjoy our course and its scenery. Thanks for playing Bear Creek!
